He needs information about Charles T. Russell's book The Finished Mystery..I've already got the publishing date and what the book was about, his assignment was to find out why it was unsatisfactory to the brothers at that time? I know it's last minute but I need help! Thanks!

It is not quite accurate to describe "The Finished Mystery" as written by Charles Taze Russell. While it certainly included Russell's previously unpublished research about Revelation, it left unstated that Russell had likely intentionally refrained from publishing those notes because he felt uncertain about his conclusions.

Some of Russell's spiritual brothers felt that the ideas as published were wrong, and that even Russell would not have wanted them published. Perhaps those brothers who were "unhappy" were right to feel that way privately, but it was their public reaction that proved whether they had the humility necessary to be useful to God and Christ.

(John 6:66-68) Owing to this many of his disciples went off to the things behind and would no longer walk with him. Therefore Jesus said to the twelve: “You do not want to go also, do you?” Simon Peter answered him: “Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life

In truth, many of the prophecies of Revelation were fulfilled in the years AFTER the publication of The Finished Mystery (and other fulfillments remain still future). Since neither Russell nor any of his colleagues ever claimed any divine inspiration or miraculous messages from heaven, its unsurprising that some of their sincere suppositions proved wrong in hindsight.

It was very acceptable to the majority of the brothers at the time. If anyone objected, it was the members of the Board of Directors who had not been consulted or informed that the book was going to be published.

The book was represented to be the posthumous work of Pastor Russell, but it was actually written after his death, and although it relied heavily on his writings, it was a misrepresentation to attribute the book to him.

At the time, Russell was believed (by ALL the Directors) to be directing the work from heaven and was still "in charge". So the majority of the Board members weren't pleased at what they considered to be an "unauthorized" book which was represented as having the authority of Russell's other writings.

In time, it became unacceptable to ALL the brothers because it contained "predictions" and "interpretations" that, as time passed, proved undeniably wrong.

Unsatisfactory to the brothers? Can't recall that it was. It was not looked upon kindly by Christendom.

I read above that he went to jail. So did the apostle Paul.
I read above that JW's go to hell. So did Jesus.

JW is a cult that leads to eternal hell.

Works don't get anyone into heaven. The only way to go to heaven and avoid eternal hell is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again.
