I personally have not encountered this situation and I hope I never do. I would never use lethel force in any situation; even if my life was in danger. The reason I ask is because I keep up with news and current events and living here in south fla is hard to ignore how many corrupt police there are. Im not saying they are all this way or that even most are. It just seems that with this new law that this situation is bound to come up in the near future.

The police can do anything they want with you or to you-legal or not.
You'd better just sit there and take it if you want to live.
Even if you DID legally defend yourself against illegal assault by a cop, and he didn't kill you, or beat you to a pulp (while cuffed, of course), no judge or jury would ever believe your side of the story.
Best to stay below the radar.

You had better be standing a SOLID ground and KNOW the officer is conducting an illegal act to you before you do anything.

Should you attempt to use lethal force against anybody, let alone an officer in the performance of his duties, based upon a misunderstanding of a law...you will pay the penalities by law.

In over 30 years of law enforcement I've heard too many people say "their rights were violated" or "you can't do that" yet there is no question in my mind (nor the courts) that I was acting well within the legal guidelines of the law.

Too many people listen to unreliable sources when discussing legal issues which only makes things more difficult for the person receiving the information.

You do not provide enough information to make a qualified response to your question. What were you doing when the officer allegedly did something to "illegally harm you."

I would predict you would have a long fight in front of you. Leathal force can be a hard decision to live with. None of us can tell you what to do but Personally If my life was seriously being threatened by a corrupt police officer I would protect my life and take my chances in court.

Make sure you read and understand ALL of the qualifications of using deadly force on anyone.

You would have to prove he is acting illegally.
