For my birthday my SIL went all out trying to impress people that she really is a good person (didn't work lol) but i opened this box and in it had 6 perfume bottles, very square, very dusty looking. I smiled and she said, "i thought they smelt okay. They are supposed to be just like the real perfume made by designers. That box cost me $17 and all the perfumes are knock offs from the original, but, whatever"
I had to bite my lip to keep from bursting into laughter.
With that, she also gave me a book on Native American stuff that made no sense whatsoever, i think the writer was smoking something because half of it wasen't in English.
She also gave me a $25 gift certificate for wal-mart and then asked me the day after if i could go buy milk and bread on it for her and her kids!

Worst gift i've given. Last christmas i foolishly bought my husband a Griddle.
He kept saying he really wante done, so i bought it, wrapped it up and the night before christmas i started panicking wondering what in the hell i was thinking. When he opened i literally almost threw up i felt so damn stupid, that is not the kind of gift to buy your husband lol

I try not to be ungrateful but I am particular about what scents I do and don't like. I have a family member that gives oddly scented bath products as Christmas presents. I end up giving them to a charity and then I feel bad about that because I don't know who would like such things.

According to my sister, the worst gift that I have recently given is a book that I got for my niece that has some line at the end about how God made all the world. I admit that I didn't read the book through to the end before I bought it - I liked the pictures of the baby animals and I thought that the baby would like it too. My sister comments on this silly book every other phone conversation. From now on I'll only give her books that I've read through even though I don't quite see the harm in the book but I'll respect her wishes.

A fabric wood carrier. Very strange. We have a gas fireplace, too, so we don't even need to ever carry wood.
(It was good for a laugh later amongst some family members. The person who gave it to us is sort of renowned for giving the worst gifts. Her heart's in the right place, though. Our family just finds it a little charming.)

As for gift that I've given...that's hard to say. I like to think that I give nice gifts. I know I put a lot of thought into my gifts. I'm sure there have been some things I've given that people thought stunk, but I don't know of any specifically. I've never seen anyone return anything I've given, unless it was a duplicate.

A fake fur, a short leopard print scarf with the fur only on one side and some cheap material backing on the other with a opening in the middle to pull the scarf through I guess. This person makes a lot of money and has received a lot of favors from me. I was totally insulted.

I always try to give a nice gifts and not come across as cheap and/or "What was she thinking?"...

Worst gift received: a character of a bear bellied guy sitting on a toilet doing his business, complete with sound effects!

Worst gift given: A Marvin the Martian alarm clock that malfunctioned on my buddy and kept going off at unusual times. Also people tortured him by pressing the "test" button. Imagine hearing "Wake up earthling! You haven't got all light year"! All day, every day!

Worst gift received: I got this top that my aunt picked up when she was in Tuscany. It's SCARY. She knows I love brown and earth tones but this is Hideous. It has a lot of unnecessary jingly things on it that make too much noise. I'm afraid that if I breath too hard, it'll sound like a cultural contingent from a far away land.
I never wore it though. I love her but lately she's been out of it.
Worst gift given: I give jewelry and perfume for women and t-shirts for men. I keep it simple. According to my Grandmother- Who don't like it could lay down beside it!!!!!

Worst Christmas presents I won have been from my ex-grandparents. i'm no longer blabbing approximately my grandfather for the reason that he's kicked the bucket. no longer his fault besides. I enjoyed him and forgave him. i'm no longer precisely Christian, yet out of admire for my father and his mom and father, I celebrated Christmas and Chanukah. I waited for Christmas to open my presents. My Christmases weren't that sturdy and that i made up lost situations as quickly as I had undesirable. i did no longer submit a Chanukah bush this 12 months. yet, I have been given undergarments (necessary), small bag of tissues (ninja turtles, i replaced right into a woman!), no longer something ever on my 'yule' record somewhat. I variety of gave up and moved onto what i'd desire to purchase with my own funds. regardless of if, it does injury while all you opt for for for yule replaced into books. Any variety of books as long because it replaced into fictional and not religious. i'm a reader.

Worst Gift Received: nothing. In this day & age if you are old enough to live on your own then you are old enough and mature enough to bring a gift when you are invited to a wedding.

Worst Gift Given: I don't know!! No one ever complains about my gifts.
