these are just a few verses to mention

Book of genesis(1:9-13) says that the earth was created on the 3rd day.

without the earth created, how can you have a day or night because it depends on the earth's rotation.
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Book of Hebrews(1: 10-11) says that God created the heavens and the earth and that they will perish.

Book of Ecclesiastes(1:4) says that the earth will abide forever

Either one has to be wrong because both cannot take place. the earth has to perish or it has to abide forever

these are just 2 examples of contradictions found in the Bible. I can not see where preachers who claim to study the Bible as much as they say they do can still preach that it is the perfect word of God. I see you already have someone saying that there is no contradictions in it, and that is after they read your 2 examples. For the longest time I close my eyes to such things, then I started asking questions and surfing the net in attempt to figure it all out. But at last I had to admit that I was actually reading what I was reading. No one wants to admit they were wrong, but it beats knocking yourself out trying to figure out which church is teaching the truth of what the Bible is saying.

To the one that says this is only petty stuff: what about the way to salvation? faith, works, grace, baptism, only believing, following the old law, not trying to follow the old law, which one is it. Or is this just petty also?

Hi there!

Question 1: How was a day was measured before the Earth was created on day three?

Answer: You misunderstand when the Earth was created. Planet Earth was created on day one. It was just covered in water. On day two the atmospheric waters were separated from the waters on this Earth. On day three, God dried the land.

Question 2: How can the earth perish yet live forever?

Answer: The same way that I will also die yet live forever. The same way that Jesus died yet will live forever. The Earth will be destroyed by fire and resurrected as a renewed Earth.

Genesis 1:3-13 is describing God re-creating the water, land, grass, trees, seed.
The earth already existed.

Hebrews 1:2 ".....by Whom also He made the worlds." (worlds is plural)

Hebrew 1:10-11 "....in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth...."

Eccl. 1:4 "...earth abideth forever..."

What you are missing is:
There are 3 earth ages
The first earth age with dinosaurs and spiritual beings aka angels
The second earth age we live in today from the time of God re-creating the earth
The third earth age is yet to come when Christ sets his foot down in Jerusalem at the 2nd coming

Gen 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth......"

Now look in your bible, there is a space between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2

In that space of time, is the rebellion of Satan and 1/3rd of the angels.

Gen 1:2 King James version, original words mean
"And the earth was (became) without form (waste), and void (destroyed waste)....."

Gen 1:3 ".....God divided the light from the darkness...."
Sun and moon were created on the 4th day.
Darkness perhaps representing Satan and his angels who rebelled. Light for the angels who fought against Satan.

Some others:

II Peter 3:5-6 First Earth Age (dinosaurs, millions of years Gen 1:1)
"....the heavens were of old......"
".....the world that then was........perished"

II Peter 3:7 Second Earth Age (mankind, earth re-created after rebellion of Satan, you live in)
"....earth which are now....."

II Peter 3:13 Third Earth Age (after Christ returns to earth)
"....look for new heavens and a new earth"

Jeremiah 4:22-31 First Earth Age and destruction of it

Isaiah 45:18-19

Psalm 104

Job 40:15 behemeth = dinosaur

Wrong- on the third day God gathered the waters together and said "let the dry land appear." He called the dry land Earth. It was named and "appeared"(from under the waters) on the third day.

The bible teaches that this earth and heavens will be burned with fire - they will perish - but a new heavens and a new ( or renewed) earth will then appear. Both Hebrews and Ecclesiastes are correct.

god bless

OK, you have taken the book of Ecclesiastes out of context..He is moaning over the vanity of being man..that man's life is short but the world goes on forever.. IT isn't meant to be literal. If you don't like the Bible don't read it..I don't think any one is forcing you. If you choose to read the Bible you might need study notes to explain..At least read a whole chapter and not just a few lines or you will get real messed up.

I think the idea of "taken out of context" and your points might need some evaluation.

Hebrews quote is not Gods word. It is a man praising God and you are taking what the is saying as the word of God. Nice try.

Ecclesiastes is quoting Solomon trying to illustrate the life is not permanent and that in the scheme of things it is insignificant compared to the astronomical scale. Again, not the word of God.

Genesis 1:1 says " 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

You are taking God creating land and water on Earth as being the creation of Earth itself. There is a difference.

Woops... looks like you got your time scale mixed up.

In the beginning there was nothing but darkness.

" And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Gen. 1:2

As to the second part of your question bear in mind that God is eternal, So all that He makes is eternal as well.We cannot get completely rid of anything. That includes our souls as well.
You can burn it and you will have ashes.
You can crush it and you will have sand.
You can tear it up and you will have pieces.

Thank you for asking this question.I believe as Christians we should always be ready to give an account as to what and why we believe what we do.I have some other thoughts on this subject but they would be quit lengthy. You are welcome to email me if you would like to.

the 1st one is easy. in the Bible, it says that God seperated the sea and the land on the 0.33 day, no longer that he created the planet on that day. 'Earth' in this context, skill land. the 2nd is extremely extra complicated. in the 1st passage, the Bible is relating the present international. maximum Christians have self assurance that, after the top of the present international, there will be a clean international, ruled by utilising God. In that experience, the Earth can the two die and abide continuously.

Billy,
Primoa has "Hit the nail on the head". You need to begin reading, studying, and obeying GOD'S WORD so that you will begin to understand it completely. You evidently do not at this point in time. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,

You're nit-picking here.
The message of Scripture as a whole is crystal clear:

Salvation through Christ alone.....

Don't sweat the small stuff. There are no contradictions in Scripture. The more you dig, the more you will see it's beauty & truth.
