Ok, so we can say that tho these people label themselves as Christians, claim to follow the Bible the best possible way and yet they do such horrible things(lets just throw those good Christians that bomb abortion clinics in there too) Are not a good example of a "real" Christian right? So others shouldn't base their beliefs about Christians based on the acts of a few, Correct?
So then, why do you have to do that to us, the Muslims that have actually added to society instead of taking away from it, the ones of us that don't make the news because we don't kill. Islam ISN'T about being a suicide bomber........ those people are sick in their heads to begin with, and as said about the WBC people, do it under the cloak of Islam, giving it a bad name.

First, I am not preaching I asked legit questions there.
second, I am not ignorant enough to believe these people, and I would never put Christians into that boat, if you knew me you would know I used to be one....

When looking back in history we often find that fundamentalist sects of ALL religions are prone to violence. Looking around the world today we see the same thing.
Whether we are Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists or any religion we must always continue to re-discover God and allow our faith to grow as the intelligence of mankind at large grows. God didn't leave us any easy puzzles or loose ends. Science will forever continue to challenge our intellect and the wonder of God should follow that path as well. To close your mind and heart is to close your soul to the always amazing and wonderful power of the Grace of God.
Peace,
AAD

I think no religion (or lack thereof) has the corner on the jackass hypocrit market. (Sad, but true.)
Bombing abortion clinics is darn near (they won't let me say damn) the pinnacle of hypocrisy. The whole pro-life movement is based on the sanctity of life. The whole premise of Christianity is the opportunity of redemption of the most vile of sinners. I know I am not the only Christian who sees a huge conflict between these two premises and bombing a clinic filled with people.
I work in a very diverse college town, I have nearly 200 employees of many different faiths. I saw an honest, good man, my age, who fled Afganistan with only family and the shirt on his back 25 years ago, who came to this country and WORKED hard to prosper and build his business, live in fear in the days following 9-11 because he and is family are mideastern and Muslim. This is just wrong.
I also am disturbed by this idea that just because a person can see and understand, but still condemn, how others could get so caught up and passionate that they get so far off track is somehow twisted in to this concept that they really endorse the behavior.
I am passionately pro-life, I can see how a person can get started and let their zeal take over and somehow twist things in their head so that the "end justifies the means." It's still wrong, and atrocious, but I do see how people can let that happen. So when a Muslim person says they can understand or see how a person or group can twist their faith to the perversion of violence, I know it doesn't mean they endorse the behavior. They just understand how it happens.
Although I've got to tell you...in the case of the Phelps family, I can't even begin to understand them. And they're lawyers, aren't they??!?! Well...that may be part of the problem right there...(Uhm, that's a joke....)

I see what you are saying...and I hear it also. I agree...one must make the distinction...yet, I would ask...how much Muslim ministry is there in the world? The Islamic states are wealthy and yet their people starve, live in poverty and squaler..especially those of non-middle eastern ethnicity and etc. American, European and muslims of developed countries have inadvertantly funneled mass amounts of money back into the hands of terrorists factions of the muslim extremist through Islamic charitable organizations. The average Muslim family, individual and organization or business has not contributed to terrorism should be given signification but that is not how the world works. Even when the Islamic fundies are described as extremists factions..people don't hear that...the same way they only hear that Joe Blow idiot bombed a building and killed 3 people in the "name" of God. They just hear that term "christian" without really knowing too much about what it means...unless and of course if you are a Christian in any real sense of the nomenclature. If you are a hater...according to the words of Christ...you don't belong to Him. He says, if you so much as hate your brother you have murdered him in your heart and that is a breaking of the 10 commandments. So we cannot hate anyone. I have Muslim friends...I love them. Two are from Pakistan and one is from Africa. Very different cultures and takes on their faith system and being a Christian and believing that Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life..I pray that they would see it as well...but I cannot hate them anymore than God hates them and I cannot love them more and I already love them alot. What people do in the name of their religions will never dignify either them or the faith system they hide behind...but somehow they justify their actions and cloak themselves with the words..."its the will of God..." or "God told me to..." Its a lie. So people end up hating God as well as the liar. Its the pity. The Master would send out His servents into the people to give a gift that would relieve their present suffering. The gift had great power and was a strong medicine. The servents however couldn't be trusted and used the medicine for their own gain..even going further to cause more suffering by suppressing those that would call upon the Master again and again for some sort of relief. Still, eventually seeing the unjust servants, The Master called out just servents and sent the gift again...bountiful quantities of it..but now the people, some, not all feared it...mistrusted it because of the evil servents. Those that needed the gift the most overcame their mistrust..and took of the gift and then tried to give it to others...still...because of the evil servants...many refused and so when the Master comes calling to bring the healed ones into the walls of the house, the suffering ones will be left out to die at their own hands..but the ones to recieve the worst punishment, will be the ones that were the evil decieving power mongering servents who will be cast out forever...live in the valley of death they have created among the corpses. That's a paraphrased version of a bible lesson I once read and it makes alot of sense. Jesus says...You will know them by their fruits. What is produced by people who claim to have the truth. Its all based on preceptions and has alot to do with what people want to believe and how their intellectual incapacity toward ignorance leaves them wallowing in misinformation. Love in Christ, ~J~

A man gets on a bus with a bomb under his coat. More people get on the bus until it is packed. Just after leaving a stop the man presses a button and the bomb goes off killing everyone on the bus. We know nothing of this man, his age, if he is married, kids, what he does for a living or anything else about him. Isn't it strange that we can probably guess his religious belief though?

Frankly, it's not so much about the extremists for me, it's about the rules and laws I'd have to live under if I were in a country dominated by some version of Muslim ideology. I'd have to cover up, not drive, no alcohol, no movies, be careful not to be seen with an unrelated man, not bother reporting being raped unless four other people were watching...etc...
There are plenty of entire countries with some or others of these rules -- doesn't that make them "real" Muslim?

Check out the book "From the gates of Hell" (his name escapes me...) Its a true story about a man who was extremly religious, and pro-life and into "operation rescue" But has to write an article covering a shooting of an abortion doctor. He goes undercover and exposes alot of things about the nuts that use violence in the name of god for a political agenda. Along the way he begins to question his own beliefs about "hot button" issues and also the true intentions behind the political movement. He also was a part of "common ground" which is a debate group that is trying to find a common ground between left/right issues to try to come up with solutions.
Theres a chapter where he talks to a minister that thinks that only HIS denomination is going to get into heaven and tries to get to the bottom of his reasoning.

this is just another bias opinion that some people carry, it happens in all walks of life. try not to be offended, just consider where it is coming from. AND you are right, people should not put every one of one religion or race into one category but it does happen.

Yea they give Christians a bad name, and there is nothing we can do about but tell you that they are not right. Why not believe it? Do you really think God would permit that kind of behavior?

A true Christian hates what God hates.
God hates sin and as long as a person remains dead in their sin, no matter what religious name they call themselves by, then God hates them too.
Jesus Christ is the door. God will not turn anyone away who comes to him through Jesus Christ.
