Don't listen to the above posters....

11B is WAY different then the other MOS's in its training. The difference is it is NOT BCT then AIT (Basic Combat Training followed by Advanced Individual Training- your MOS school).

It is what is called an OSUT- One Stop Unit Training.

You will do your basic and AIT all at once in ONE school at Fort Benning. Infantry School is basically BCT and AIT merged into one 13 week course.

The above posters are, however, correct in that 11B does not harm you in your civilian job... its skills just don't directly transfer over, except possibly any leadership skills you pick up.

A little bit. The main difference is that Infantry BCT is one-station training in general. You Basic and AIT will be blended, you do BCT and AIT at the same time more or less as compared to an intel analyist that may do Basic Training in Missouri, and then AIT in Arizona. This is also true for Artillery at Oklahoma.

For the second part, I have not seen any stigma attached to any of the BCTs as far as a civilian job. In a lot of cases, places like to hire military.

BCT is same for all MOS. There isn't a stigma associated with 11b. It's just that the skills you learn, other than leadership, are not directly transferrable to a civilian job.

11B trainees learn what they need to stay alive. Emphasis on weapons and tactics. I will bet 90% of the people who read this do not know what an 11B is. Anyone who gives you a hard time about being 11B is not worth working for

No, AIT will be the difference. When applying for jobs that look at military as job experience it is the maturity and self reliant people they expect out of those who have military experience. 11B is an excellent foundation for the beginning of the military career, and provides excellent leadership qualities that civilian employers look for.
