Hi. I am a college student and I was recently a victim of sexual harassment, or at least I think it is.

Two days ago, in my communications class I was sitting in front of a male student. The class was going well and my day was so far perfect.

During the second half of class, I kept feeling as if something was touching my lower back, I turned around and noticed I kept brushing my exposed backside against the student's knee.

"He's a big guy, so it's all right" I thought, and I pulled down my shirt.

Then during the last 15 minutes, I kept feeling as things were going down my underwear. Thinking it was the wind, as I was sitting near an open window, I ignored it. But then I felt something cold go down the back of my pants. I looked behind me again and the student was acting normal. I felt my backside and my underwear was exposed, along with some of my butt.

Intially I thought it was just the wind, but I was still suspicious as I felt something was in my underwear.

After class I went.

to the restroom. I checked in my underwear and found some paper balls and a dime. I was disgusted that the male student was putting stuff down my underwear.

I exited the building through another exit inadvertently but I was glad I did. As I walked around to the front of the building, I saw the same male student hiding in the bushes nearby, waiting for me to come out through the front. I was a few feet behind him

His underwear and butt crack were exposed too, and I was tempted to drop the coin or something down his underwear too, as a sign that I was quite aware of what he did. But I feared it could go against me.

So is this considered sexual harassment? I need to know so I can at least let the professor know to talk to him and have him not do it again.

Can't tell if it is sexual harassment or not, need more information on that. I suggest you let the problem alone and just make sure to wear clothes that do not expose your backside and underwear or see if you can change seats without making an issue out of it. You say this guy is big, so maybe you don't want to start anything. If he does something else, then time to report it.

Obviously this student was bored if he was spending his time dropping things down the back of your pants. Its also clear that you were displaying the area so he had a clear target. You could probably stretch this to claim sexual harassment but it would not be very easily proved. I would suggest that in the future you wear longer shirts or pull your pants up so that no one has to look at your backside. Look at the bright side, you made 10 cents just sitting in class.

Yes, it was sexual harassment, you just won't be able to prove it. Do not sit infront this guy ever again, even if it means abruptly standing up and moving to another chair in the middle of a lecture. Also, let the professor know what happened, just in case there is a future altercation, there needs to be some sort of record of complaint.

Give him his dime back and tell him "crack" costs more than ten cents.....
If you act like it was a joke, then he may be embarrassed and realize he can't get to you and maybe he'll pick on someone else. He's a jerk and needs to sit up front so his attention can be on the professor...that's what his tuition paid for. Communications class? Obviously he needs that class more than he realizes....

At the very least, it certainly was a very immature thing to do, which is not unheard of in college-age males.
You should tell the professor, so that there is documentation of the event and also, so that if the professor sees you moving to another seat during his class, he will know why.

Did the guy actually touch you or not? or did he put anything in your underwear... surely you can tell the difference between wind blowing against your skin and something physical touching your skin? or you could turn quickly to check if it was him? There is not enough information to make a clear decision if you cannot make one yourself.

It's personal opinion, of course, but all you said doesn't seem at all relevant to sexual harassment and much closer to joke of disputable taste or else instead.
For, neither the guy didn't attempt to overtly and insistently touch you against your will, nor did he proposed or suggested anything sexual as far as I can read you.

That is sexual harassment and you could report it to your professor.

But it could possibly be construed as sexual harassment that you were brushing your exposed backside against his knee.

Swing a satchel full of books round and accidentally hit him in the face then apologise profusely after you have given him a black eye.

2 things: a charge of sexual harassment is very serious. And, he did not 'sexually' harass you. Putting spit balls and coins down your pants doesn't mean anything 'sexual'.... it means he's extremely immature.
