I have been reading the Bible for years and can't figure out anything

i've read it cover to cover, cover to cover, cover to cover....

(bible, qu'ran, torah)

good luck, they are all inconsistent, and poorly written....

I know I'll get thumbs down for this, but I agree with what someone else said about praying for understanding. Many things in the Bible need God's Spirit for us to understand them.
Also, on a more practical level, what translation are you reading? Try a different translation (like the Message) or a study Bible (I have the NIV) that gives some explanations of what you're reading.

Try to read small portions of the same every day. Also concentrate on stories in that and the lessons one can learn from that. best wishes

I did the same thing.And then I was filled with the Holy Ghost and that changed.

Try reading about other religions & then compare it with what you have read in the Bible......Try the study of comparative religions you might find your answers there. Good Luck!

You must be born-again,(first) because the information contained in the word of God is spritually discerned and given by revelation of the Holy Spirit. Pray that the Lord comes into your heart and blesses you with this wisdom.

reading bible alone doesnt help... if ur reading bible only to let yourself feel that you pray, then it doesnt help... but try to understand it.. bible teaches abt the responsibilities of a human being.... and abt the morales.

To understand the Bible, you must first get saved. The way to do that is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for your sins on the cross and rose again. At that point, the Holy Spirit will help you understand the Bible.

It is impossible for an unsaved person to understand the Bible.
