She is 21 months old and naturally a good kid, but lately hasn't been napping longer than 45 minutes and she really needs to sleep longer otherwise she gets very cranky. Any suggestions?

Is it quiet in the house? Turn the tv down low, If you are doing housework make sure you are not clanking dishes, the washer on, those can all be distracting noises. If she also is not taking a long nap maybe put her to bed at night a little earlier. Maybe she needs two short naps instead of one long one, power napping they call it. One early in the am and one in the afternoon. As children get older they will need to have sleep times adjusted.

well you are very lucky to have a 21 month old child still having naps, my son stopped at 15 months old, more play time, a bath to make her more sleepy, warm milk, try anything and see what works best for her, she maybe going out of naps good luck :)

take her for a walk outside right before nap. maybe an hour before. and walk and make her walk no stroller. this will tire her out come home have lunch and a fresh diaper and she should pass out for 2-3 hours

also leave her in bed when she wakes up my son did the short naps if i checked his diaper and laid him back down he usually went right back to sleep

- get her more tired by increasing playtime and
- make sure she takes a nap on a full stomach
- make sure you close you curtains/blinds so there's not too much light so she can relax better

that works wonderfully for my 9,5 month old baby girl.
