I was just looking at these pictures literally 20 seconds ago. I think they look quite good. I can't really chose between the desaturated and the color. Could you have tried desaturating the fur like 50% but pushing the saturation in the reds a bit more. They are both very cute regardless.

Maybe like this: http://flickr.com/photos/ebaetscher/1918319166/

No, it wasn't that hard, nor did it take long. I need to get off to school now, but this afternoon I'll add a description to the image on flickr on what I did. And I'm glad you like it = )

Hi, Antoni.

I couldn't help but abuse Spotti's picture. It's a different treatment than I Erics (I think).

1A. Dup background layer.

1B. (For Color) Increase saturation ridiculusly.

2. (For Color) Desaturate.

3. Under adjustments, pick equalize.

4. Set layer to Soft Light.

5. Play with Opacity slider to taste.

6. Use the sharpening technique I posted to Dr. Sam.

I hope Spotti approves. The alternative is hours spent with a makeup artist and cats HATE that.

Pets are interesting to work with. Keep it up. Nice shot.

Vance

Well. I DEFINITELY think the colour one, although it's subtle it has a lot more depth of field.. the other one looks a bit flat in comparison (to me). That's talking as an artist, because as you know photography is only my hobby.

Big smile, Aunty Lidybeff :o)

p.s. No need to saturate the red more, it detracts if you do...

Black & White. No background colour is less distracting, and puss looks a little cleaner too. The B&W version leaves you looking at puss' pose & textures.

The B&W one.

I'd take more photos of my cat but he's either asleep, eating, or visiting his litter box. LOL!
