Like today we can go, oh it could be something from another dimension, or.....another planet.....or.....government secret technology.
Back then, how would they have reacted?....oh its a flying chariot of fire from the heavens.....wait, isn't that from the bible??

It would be the Chariots of the Gods. Remind you of a book? The aliens would be God or Gods and angels.

The UFO's of today could be fallen angels and demons materializing in our atmosphere. They can leave their abode and come to earth at any time. The Bible does say, "Woe to the earth for the devil has come down to her."
Sin has definitely increased. Violence and evil are increasing.
False religions by the hundreds have shown up to discourage the Christian people and lead the unbelievers away from God.
For sure, we know God's heavenly good angels travel in chariots of fire and wheels within a wheel, because the Bible specifically tells us about them.
The UFO's are not Aliens from other planets as you think, but they are biblical beings of angels and fallen angels and demons that can materialize themselves when evil abounds.

This whole line of reasoning was explored in a book called "Chariots of the Gods". That came out a few decades ago. It is another interesting theory.

Looks like another handful of lunatics made the top of my hitlist--if I were an assassin, that is. People who promote this kind of ridiculous violation of humanity deserve nothing less than a jacketed slug to the temple, preferably one traveling at a minimum of 1,500 fps. Makes for a nice and fine red mist, which, I'll say again, is nothing less than what these people deserve.

what exactly is your point ?
as if I did not know...
they would react in a manner consistent with prevailing beliefs of the times. And I have seen a lot of sheep herders with more common sense than a lot of PhDs I know.

Probably not. Middle Easterners and South Asians tend to be excitable. I can see them basing a religion on it.
Native Americans, Nordics, Greeks and Chinese would have taken it in stride.
"Aaaah! It's just the Gods playing around again. You have to humor them, but it's not like they're serious people. Wonder what they want this time?"

I'm sure they would react rationally within their framework. Everything is relative. Remember Clarke's Law "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." If you don't have a clue how its done.

In all fairness, I'm pretty sure I couldn't react rationally toward a UFO.

They probably would have been sending prayers of protection to what ever god they worshipped, or making signs to ward off evil spirits. Then again they might have been visited regulary back then, who knows. We are so violent these days, if I were an alien I would not want to visit this planet.

They would react every bit as rationally as a person of today would.
