Three to four weeks.
Send 'em all out like this:
Wedding invites: 3/1 (or a week earlier)
Shower invites: 3/9 (or a week earlier)
Wedding RSVP Date: 3/29
Bridal Shower: 3/30
On 4/1, call up non RSVPers so you can get #'s to the caterer!
Wedding: 5/3!
Congrats!

Ideally the invites should be received 2 - 4 weeks before the shower. There are two thoughts that might influence your hostess when they make the decision. If you send them out too late, some people have already made plans. If you send them too early, people forget by the time the shower date arrives. So, figuring out the "fine line" in there probably depends on how much your friends like to attend showers and how busy their schedules already are.
Good luck!!!

I agree with four weeks, especially if there is a way to get the word out (just through the grapevine) to the people who are driving. Sending invites too far in advance usually means that they end up lost or forgotten about...

Its me again :) I would say send them out before you send out the wedding invitations. So look at when you are sending them out and go from there because you are going to probably be sending out your wedding invitations around this time as well. But dont send out the shower invits any later than the first part of march.

I'd say a month is pretty safe. This will give them enough time to make arrangements. There's no harm in sending them earlier than that though, if you're still concerned.

They should be sent out about 6 weeks in advance, a little longer if people are travelling for out of town.

Good luck :)

Where I'm from, the person hosting the shower just phones, you don't throw your own bridal shower.
People should have a few weeks' notice.
