I would like to retire there, as I am a newly aspiring artist. I liked the area, but am not sure about the weather. As global warming gets gradually worse, is this a factor for the next 5 years? REK

Nothing is going to change much in the next 5 years.

How much change have you seen since the mid 1980's?

I agree with Jello. This is a longer range problem. If you're retiring, it probably won't affect you much. Your kids and grand kids are another story.

One thing to realize is that your location (unless it's _very_ close to sea level) is not important.

The main impact of global warming in rich countries is economic. Moving people away from the coasts, replacing stuff we lose, and redoing agriculture will be hugely expensive. It could easily cause an economic depression.

There is no "safe" place.
