magic power? When you look at the curse that God put on the "devil" after he led Adam/Eve astray it says
"You are cursed more than all the cattle,
and more than all the beasts of the field;
on your belly you shall go,
and eat dust all of the days of your life.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her seed,
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise his heel"
Hardly a curse written for a super natural being that the churches of today wish us to believe is true. What relevance has "on your belly you shall go" to a supposed supernatural being, especially when the line before in the text states that the serpent is categorized with other animals...IE cattle/beasts. The bible states it is a serpent, then the curse aligns it with other animals....nowhere does it state any thing like the churches of today would have you believe.
The enmity between the seeds was a reference to a the disobedient and the obedient, being sinful man and Jesus who was without sin.....see Romans 16 v 17 - 20.
It does not look like God treated "satan" as a most powerful being at all, more like the animal the verses say that it was.

Well, that's certainly what some of His enemies accused Him of, specifically of using the power of Beelzebub to cast out demons. Naturally, Jesus wasn't too pleased with this accusation, asserting that He actually did it with the power of the Holy Spirit, and to say otherwise was to blaspheme the Holy Spirit by calling it evil - an unforgivable sin. If He did derive His power from Satan/Beelzebub, then Satan has pulled off a tremendous coup by getting people to worship him (through Jesus) instead of the true God. Of course, some would argue that the "God" of the Bible IS Satan, and that Yahweh and Jesus are simply pseudonyms under which this being operates.

There is no mystery. The 3rd chapter of Genesis and 1st and 2nd chapter of Job explain it quite well. Satan is dumb but not stupid. He knew to challenge God's power would be the fastest way to die. However, he did challenge God's authority or right to rule His creations. He believed man only followed God for what we could get out of Him. If He kept His hands off of us, we would curse Him. If God reasoned things as man does, He would have just offed him right then. His reasoning is higher level than ours. The question would still exist. Can man live well and prosper without God and (for Satan) with Satan?
So God has allowed time for both man and Satan to try. 6,000 years later has shown man trying every form of government imaginable with no success. Thankfully, this time is about up. God will restore earth to His original purpose.

If God took care of Satan before he rebelled then God would have been bored out of his mind.

Because God is Satan so he cant very well take care of himself can he?! Unless...God commits suicide and does away with both himself and Satan in one go...But......that would still leave Gary Coleman unaccounted for...

You know, the 'free will' argument... God needed the devil to give us a choice other than to follow God's will... and all that?
