If our original enemy is terrorism against the US I believe that Saddam would've been lower on the list of targets. Pakistan and Iran would've been higher
That doesn't mean I'm against overthrowing Saddam, I just believe that if I was given the choice I would've started with the worse enemies to the US
If our original enemy is terrorism in general, I think the world would've fully supported us fixing the Congo. That's the root of terror in Africa.
Thank you for your support

Yes it did take focus off of the real enemy, Saudi Arabia. I have been on 4 deployments to Iraq and firmly believe that we are only making things worse here for Iraq. Every time we kill an insurgent 2 or 3 more pop up in his place.
The place we need to be fighting is Saudi Arabia, the real home of terrorism.

"Do you feel that Invading Iraq took the focus off the Original enemy;" they were an enemy.
"...and / or created generations of new terrorists;" No, they start training them from childhood. If we did nothing they would still come!

No it opened up a second fron which is Ballsy to say the least but it did not shift focus. Hatred for America from that region is huge. I think if we totaly pulled out there would be a lot more dead civilians at home as they terrorist would shift focus.

The invasion of Iraq was predetermined to happen before Bush ever took oath.
As far as loosing sight of the enemy, Just gotta adjust your sight picture a little :) We havent stopped fighting yet. we still engage on a daily and nightly basis. So No we havent lost focus.
And as far as the new terrorist, I have to agree with the post above stating that "they are born into this" and we would just have to deal with them later rather than Now.
Your welcome

I don't think it did either in fact after having been there I think we made a positive impact on the people of Iraq and after the new government is set up and stable we will have a new ally in our fight against terrorists.

I believe the long term effects for the region and world will be better served by this effort. We Americans tend to look only at 'immediate gratification' of our efforts. This effort is not over nor will it for a generation.
We are making a difference.
