I live in Australia, I am 16 years old, never had any horseback riding experience but want to start lessons with one of my friends. We don't want it to be toooo expensive, but it is something I've wanted to do for ages! Would we need to supply our own helmets and whatever else you need? If so, how much do they cost? What is the average price of lessons? If you live in Australia too, do you know of any cheap places in Victoria? Any answers welcome and please make sure prices are in Australian dollars... and website links would be good too =]

They will supply the helmets at the stables, just wear some comfy jeans and a pair of traniers to start. Don't go all out and buy all the boots etc. till you know if you like it!

No one can answer that except the stables near you.
When you call them, explain that you are a newbie and ask about the types of lessons that they have.
I expect that anyone who is training new people will have the appropriate equipment but you should ask. Also ask about recomendation about clothes to wear. Some shoes may not be appropriate or safe.

cant know..here in usa 20 dollars an hour to 100/hr.....best bet.....look for a horse show or sale...talk to people....look in phone book for horse supplys or go to local feed store horse people love to talk...if you see someone with horses in a field knock on door and ask...really ....at least here in SW virginia... just say you have very nice horses and let them talk!!!
