I am far from a walking TV guide but it's nice to have something to do in the winter. I live in Vermont and don't ski. The only reason I care is that if the writers get more money, which I'm not saying they don't deserve, there will be more commercials.

I have the programs that I like and watch regularly, but I don't have an opinion either way about the strike. I know why they are striking and if I thought I was being underpaid and I belonged to a union then I'd strike with them.

As far as tv, I can do without it if I have to. I'll just knit, crochet or make some jewelry then when they come back on I'll watch again.

The only thing I am concerned with is the new shows I have begun to like this season losing their appeal because they haven't developed the fan base the longer running shows have.

You don't have to be a TV addict to feel the impact that this writer's strike can potentially have. One of the sites I looked at for more information about what television shows I care to watch will be affected mentioned that movie writers could end up going on strike next year because their contracts are up sometime in the summer. Next could also be advertising writers which could reach into several arenas and advertising is important so networks can make money in order to have the shows and the movies to begin with. Radio could end up being affected by association. Essentially, the entertainment industry as we currently know it is definitely going to be left with a huge scar.

Although my suggestion for those who are worried is that they rally behind those who know how to write good scripts and haven't been able to break into the business and encourage them to try to get their feet in the door now.

No, I really don't care. It doesn't affect me at all because I live in Australia and all the American shows that we see are months after production anyway. I guess if you lived in America and were addicted to a particular show, then the strike would be devastating.

As a writer myself, I certainly have sympathy with the writer's cause.

I care because this affects 24, and that is not a good thing when you're one of the biggest fans there is.

Yes. I have very little time to myself to watch tv so when I do have it, I want to watch quality programming, not re-runs.
