New Testament worked out some of the kinks, just like Vatican II loosened up some of the dogma inked in the first Vatican council - not that it was originally fallible, but modernized and enhanced.

Plus, I think they figured out if they cooked pork all the way through, they wouldn't die in a scourge, so that previously unknown tidbit came in handy for our contemporary enjoyment of bacon bits.

According to the New Testament, in Acts of the Apostles, it says it's just fine and dandy for Christians to dig on swine.

As if an Evangelical Christian ever read the Old Testament, anyway.

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of The Law of Moses. Previously, the only way to keep The Law and be clean in God's sight was to follow the customs, traditions and rituals outlined in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ paid and atoned for the sins and uncleanliness of everyone who accepts him as their personal saviour with his blood. This is the New Covenant that God made with all people and that brings to completion the Old Covenant He made with the Jewish people. Since the Jewish people were unable to keep the old covenant, God sent Jesus to do it for them -and while He was at it, He decided that He might as well bring completion to The Law for everyone else too.

Good question. Jesus never rejected Judaism nor the laws governing what to eat etc. He would have 'kept kosher' in other words.

It was in fact Paul who spread the ideas that evolved into Christianity, and that was some time after the Romans killed Jesus. Paul himself never even met Jesus.

Seventh Day Adventists do. But many other protestant branches like to say that a dream someone had in the new testament nullifies it.

Pretty presumptuous on their part me thinks.

Now that I am an atheist though, I have tasted bacon. And now you couldn't take my bacon away from me without forfeiting your life.

Jesus created a new covenant. He was the Perfect Lamb crucified on the Cross. The veil in the Temple was torn into, all those all laws have been abolished in Jesus Christ. You can eat what you want, Jesus said its not what goes in a man that defiles him but what comes out. In other words what comes out of the heart is the true person, not what goes in the belly. Jesus did away with the old covenant with his death upon the cross. When he arose from the grave the third day he forever opened the door to salvation to all who believe. Our sins have been washed away. now all we have to do to be saved is believe and recieve his free gift, then his Holy Spirit will live in our hearts all the time, no more sacrifices everyday like in the old testament. Have you ever been saved? Do you believe Jesus died for your sins on that Cross? If you believe that you can become a born again Christian today, right now, just pray this sinners prayer of faith if you believe and Jesus will come into your heart and save you, just pray with all your heart and soul and mind a body, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

Because the civil, ceremonial and dietary laws in Deuteronomy were for the ancient Israelites who were a primitive nomadic people.

The law was fulfilled in the person of Jesus and from his time on we were subject only to the Ten Commandments which are for all peoples of all times.

Because God, through Jesus the Messiah, formed a new covenant with the people. The old laws regarding ritual sacrifice, cleanliness, etc. from the old testament have not the same bearing on Christians that they have on Jews...
