Will pesto last longer than the basil itself?

Pesto will last longer, as it has olive oil and other ingredients, and the basil on its own will wilt. Make it and put it in covered containers in the refrigerator.

Pesto is best capt frozen if You have a lot, make sure wen making it in a blender ,you blend the nuts first and then add the Basile because if You blend it to long it will get to warm and Will turn brown from the head off blending .Wen storing it in the Freezer store it in smaller thups ,so You can use all wen You take it out.

Yes, pesto can last months. Just be sure to keep in thin layer of olive oil on top. Keeps in the refrigerator for weeks, months in the freezer.

Basil has a very short life. The stuff at Trader Joe's is already rotting on the store shelf.

you can freeze basil also if you are not planning on using it in dishes that require nice fluffy fresh looking leaves.. I mean if you are using it for cooking in stews, pastas, casserolles etc, just toss in a bit of chopped frozen basil... I do a lot of herbs that way.. parsley, basil, mint, etc
