I'll answer as I have a view from both sides. Walked as an atheist for 30 yrs, VERY well versed in math, science, space, etc. Typical nerd from the Commodore 64 days. Today, minister w/o a church by choice.
atheists are not that far off from the actual truth, they just lack a few steps. And this is not saying to turn them into "christians" but to show them the real truth. They have found many of the errors, flaws, glitches, etc in the bible. But most stop there, turn, and start to throw fruit at the christians.
This is not what an atheist is, as in defintion. They need to continue, to study more, realize why those errors, etc are there.
Then once one goes through all that, the lost books, the bible past what the church teaches, some greek knowledge, latin, hebrew, even Native American Indian is tied in. Just studies of it all, anywhere the facts lead you.
Then, they too would see the truth, the real truth. For it is so simple that when one realizes it, they just snicker at how ignorant they were to not realize it before.
Science can easily prove days of Adam, Eve, dino's, Noah's flood, etc. To understand some wicked sides, realize "J" didn't come around till the 17th century. Think about that for a moment, what 2 names do you know with J? You don't like them? That gut feeling was right, but now expand and realize why.
There is a G_D, His name is YHWH. His name is found on earth in all cultures, even on items older than the Sumerians. Even among the Native American Indians prior to the Spanish or anyone. For it was written in ancient block Hebrew, a language that was only used during the 12 tribes time.
Few realize part of the Danites are actually the Shawnee Indians. And thats just a sliver of whats really out there.
The world is NOT what we are told it is. Least not here in the USA.
Atheists (most) are closer to the truth than the christians (most). But the christians have the atheists beat as they are at least facing forward. The atheists have turned around to throw the fruit at the nut crowd behind them. When they should turn back around, and drive the car, to see where the road goes.

Despite your pleas, you already know that the godless will just HAVE to say something here.
I can do a lot of things in this life, and I can say a lot of things to a lot of people, but I can't MAKE anyone believe anything. They either believe or they don't. That being said, I have the opinion that most atheists either don't have enough to base a faith on, or somehow, somewhere, by someone, they were given a reason to question, doubt, or condemn faith.
Some people believe that the science of man is more reliable than the power of prayer. Some people think that a lack of tangible evidence is a reason to not put faith in something such as a god or religion, and yet they will put faith in a lot of things that lack tangible evidence, such as friendship, love, the loyalty of a dog, or their own ability to succeed at something they have never succeeded at before.
The human psyche is often more complex and riddled with comforting hypocrisies than most would ever care to realize or admit, and atheism and religion are not exceptions to this.
I believe that the Bible is historically-accurate, though much of what is mentioned can serve as evidence of history that even human science has explained in other ways that those that wrote the Bible couldn't explain.
More than the specific tenets of religion, I believe that the intent of the Bible was a chronical of lives and history, and to explain how certain values came to be, and to encourage the faithful to live in ways that better served all of mankind, and to encourage others to do the same.

Most of the people I have met who are Atheists are some of the most thought provoking people I've ever met. Most are highly intelligent, moral and honorable individuals. I love conversing with them about Atheism because it's fun upbeat and we can get into a good conversation about things and laugh and have a good time in the end even if we do disagree and even if I didn't win them over in that particular round. I think people get offended by Atheists because they really don't take time to understand them, the way they think and how they feel. There are some Atheists though where I just completely disagree with how to apply which religion in the public sector. They are all for removing religion but - we don't go out there trying to remove Atheism from the public eye - I mean it's everywhere already - why do some of them freak out if there is the mention of a prayer or anything in the public arena? There are some things I don't understand but as people I like them. When it comes to radical Atheism like the ACLU and how they try to remove any mention of God out of public life - those guys are just taking it too far and restricting the freedom of others by saying they are "so offended." There are tons of things that offend me everyday because of my Christianity but I'm not throwing out lawsuits all over the place because my beliefs are being constantly violated in the public square.

You knew you wasn't gonna get staight answers, been there, done that, It is a forum in a way, You got to look at it this way, we were all unbelievers at one time, right, until we believed, until we found The Lord, so we have to witness and Pray for them, chances are someone Prayed for us.
Next, being an athiest and going and spreading blasphomey, are two seperate things, if they are spreading lies about God and saying bad things, that is not good, then it is our job to tell them that what they are doing is wrong, you tell them, and if they don't listen, you disassociate with them if they still won't listen, Once you witness, it is in Gods hands, whether they harden thier heart or open it, You have done your part, you did The Work of the Lord, what happens after that, that is up to God, we got to let Go, and let God.

ok, i guess i have a question for you atheists out there: if you know God doesn't exist, why do you try so hard to prove that He doesn't? i mean, alot of atheists have no prob with other "religions" that are in the world today, yet as soon as someone starts sharing the Gospel of Christ with you or anyone you get defensive and become dead set on trying to prove that God doesn't exist. i'm just curious....and i didn't mean to sound harsh or condemning in my question. if i did come across that way then i'm sorry. i was just curious......

Well, let's see. I am not a traditional Christian, in that I do not attend church regularly, I do not judge others based on their 'sins', and I don't believe that all of the churches in society are for God, even though the believers claim it.
Having said that, I have found atheists to be every bit as judgmental as Christians. Christians are called names, like 'fundies'. The hate spewing for Christians spewing from some atheists makes me keep my guard up around them. Many times they have no tolerance for ANY Christian, and try to paint us with the same brush. Christians vary by degrees just like atheists.
I believe that if a person spends their life not believing in God, they should not be able to accept God's rewards after this life. And they won't. I believe that by not attempting to at least search for God, they are narrow-minded and limiting their capacity for emotional and personal enrichment.
As long as I don't see them bullying anyone, I will mind my own business. If they are trying to threaten or humiliate anyone, I treat them like any other bully. They can't see me coming up on them, and they certainly don't know what I have in store for them!
Hope this helped.

I'm a Christian, and have no problem with atheists. I respect people's right to believe (or not believe) whatever they like. I have many atheist friends, and get along with them well. We treat each other with mutual respect.

I don't think anything different about them than I do anyone else. I think everyone is entitled to believe as they wish. I am always open to honest questions from them if they are seeking to understand my beliefs.
I get far more upset with those who claim the name of Christ and bring it shame by spewing hate.

I think Atheists are worth every effort we can give. They are loved by God despite whether or not they believe in him. They don't have much time though. We need to love and respect them.

In the USA under the USA Constitution, there is no state religion so apparently law abiding agnostics and atheists are to be respected.
