I prefer "Truthfulness is the foundation of all virtues." Patience is a wonderful quality, but it's not always the appropriate response, for example when righteous anger would be a more effective choice against injustice. Truthfulness on the other hand has profound implications and vast impact on virtually every human activity. Without it, things fall apart and come to ruin sooner or later.

If you are asking if patience is the most important virtue then I think it's a good virtue but not the best. I'm trying to remember the list of virtues.Aren't they like the opposite of the 7 deadly sins........greed, envy, sloth, etc? Those sound worse.

Patience in an abstract noun and has no gender. You cannot compare such things as gentleness, kindness, self-control, and faithfulness.
