You may not feel He isn't changing much in your life, but may I say this respectfully sir...you are wrong! God is changing something in your life; it's just not happening yet because it is not complete. God wants you to have the best and not the second best. Things will fall in to places when it is the right time. When we pray and we think God is not answering our prayers, it is simply not ready yet or that it may not be for our own good.
Let's not fall in to a trap of telling God what is best for us rather let God be God in our life.
Reading the Bible is not like reading an ordinary book. You must clear your mind first and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Also, start with the New Testament before reading the Old Testament or you will end up questioning God and confused.
You must remember the Bible is Holy. You are supposed to find enlightenment not the other way around. When you start seeing all the negative things in the Bible, that is a sign to re-examine your own heart. Rebuke the enemy and pray.
God Bless you!

Being saved is not just going to church and reading the bible, being saved, it's about building a relationship with God, just imagine if you have a friend that's only there when he/she needs something from you, or only have conversation for a few hours on Sunday. Don't you think you would turn your back on that person, (not make him/her an enemy but just not be there). So you have to understand you have to talk to him, or talk about him on a regular basis, to nourish that relationship, and at that point he will turn and face you and respond back by touching your heart and blesses you.
And by the way the bible is a guidance, a map of event that could happened in you life, and teaches you how your faith will work for you in different situation.
There is so much more, and I wish I could go in more details with you, I'm still learning myself too, but one thing I know God give you the gift of "Choices" so you decide your path in life, but believe me when you are on his path, he will show you the way.
God is good, God is love.
God bless you.

You would lose the opportunity to look back on this and realize that it was just a phase and another struggle to overcome. God is there, he loves us, and he is very aware of the situation each of us is in right now. Sometimes it does feel like he is not there but he really is. All christians go through "dry periods". You are not alone.
If you feel that it is a "Do and don't list" you are getting into some unhealthy and legalistic thinking. It is about loving God and people with all you got. Wanting to strengthen others, praise and serve the God you love. I hope you do not leave but instead are strengthened in your faith and overcome this trial. Wising you the Best

You can still believe in god with out getting caught up in all the dogma. Many people out there do. You can 'water down' (sorry, couldn't think of a better way to say it) the religion you believe in by ignoring all the archaic dogma and believing in it's basic values and principles.
In my opinion leaving the concept of god is very freeing, and I don't mean in a "I can do what ever I like" way. You find yourself creating morals that are logical and help you and those around you rather than morals that are irrelevant, rigid and inspire hate of those that are different. You find yourself being more open and understanding of those around you because you are not restricted be dogma. You are more able to explore and understand this amazing universe. In my opinion anything that is lost in leaving god is nothing compared to what you gain (note: "in my OPINION" means exactly that; I am not saying anyone else's beliefs are wrong)

God does not always answer our prayers in the way we would like. Sometimes, He says no. We may not ever understand why, but we must trust that God does understand and He has a reason.
It honestly sounds to me like you have not found God, yet, and need to keep searching. When you find Him, you will have no doubt that He is with you. God gave you the best gift anyone could, he gave you the right to salvation and Heaven. That's what living for Him gets us. We may never get all we want, but it will all be worth it.

I understand your problems all to well but most of my answers is about staying strong in the faith. Sure we got it bad in life but only for a little while.
In this life there are people that have bad things happen to them and they are crushed. When someone steps on them they are squished. And there are other people that have bad thins happen to them and they are like iron. When someone steps on them they hurt that persons foot.
You decide which type of person you want to be whether you are a Christian or decide to be a nonbeliever. Personally I hope you stay the course of believing but it is your life and your choice.
What every you decide at least be positive. I do want to see you in heaven though and see how you made it out of the storms in your life. I will pray for you. God bless.

It seems you need to correct your approach. Go to him because you want to have a loving relationship with Him - to be real friends and not One whom you can utilize. You need to sense from His side, you just don't advance. Come on, you know how it is in a relationship....
Remember, do not be demanding. Have that gentleness and humility of heart. Some are able to find Him when reading the Scriptures, but not all. Try to look back in your life and see how He has been part of what you are now. Consider the food that you eat, the water that you drink, the family that you have now, the beauty of nature, loving friends, etc.... They all were provided to you by Him.....because He is your Father....the greatest of all fathers.

Trusting in God takes faith brother! Sometimes we can't see Him, and when he doesn't answer our prayers the way we're asking him too it's easy to lose faith. But don't give up believing Him! He's there and he loves you, in 20 years you might look back and say "Ah God, I see why you decided to answer my prayers like that..." His promises are true for those who keep the faith even when the world says "Hey buddy, who is your God? He doesn't look like he's working anything in your life!" Because people will compare your success to their vision of success, but God made his children to follow a different plan. Instead of the usual success and feelings and tangible things, God sets apart his children as those who believe in God even when there is no evidence he is there. Believing in God is definitely super hard sometimes because it means you have to believe in something that you can't see. Just keep delighting yourself in the Lord, seek Him day and night, keep your thoughts on the Lord and he will give you the desires of you heart. "Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4. Keep up the faith!! Don't give up hope!!!

Why would you think God should do anything for you? Are you saying reading and praying should be enough for God? God dosen't live for you. We need to be living for Him.
If you are no different from before you saved, how do you know you are really saved?
