My cat has scabs all over his neck and head. I am pretty sure it is fleas, so I gave him flea treatment and a bath as well.It is starting to get a little out of control on his body. I was just wondering if anyone might know if there is something else it might be other then fleas because my other cats arent having any flea issues at all and i dont see any in my apt. I have done all the flea treating necessary. Just curious,if it is fleas I am hoping it will go away otherwise a vet visit is in my future. The scabs are really big and all over his body! Anything but fleas?

Most likely to be fleas. If the treatments you used were from a store, don't expect them to work.

Animals have differing sensitivities to fleas. Sounds like this one is allergic. Very probably your other cats do have fleas but just aren't as bothered by them. You can check them all for fleas by just running a flea comb through them - look at the fur on the comb. See any black specks? These are flea dirts (poos) the classic sign that fleas are present.

A vet visit is indeed in your future, but you don't necessarily have to take the animals to pick up proper treatment, you can just go in and buy over the counter; Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. Please do so soon, flea allergies are horrible.

The commonest cause of this problem is usually fleas. Make sure that your are treating all the cats, even if their skin is fine. Fleas breed in carpets so use a household flea treatment also. It usually only shows up in one cat because that one is allergic to the flea bites. Food allergies can show up in a similar way as can allergies to dust mites/pollens etc.
It would be a good idea to rule out ringworm and mites also, so go see a vet. Cats can get really miserable with this.

Food allergies.

Corn and wheat can be very harmful to cats.
Read food labels.
Look into Innova EVO. It's got the least amount of plant products and is doing good things for allergic pets.

California Natural, Artemis, Wellness and Felidae are good too.

Ark Naturals has a supplement that might help. www.arknaturals.com

California Natural Skin and Coat Supplement works like a charm.

It depends... you'll need give a description of the scabs.

Ringworm, mites, mange, fleas,

any of this can be causing scabs.

if a flea dip doesn't work, you may want to contact your vet for further advice.

You need to take your cat to the vet. There are a lot of skin diseases a cat can get, including some from things they come in contact with. Better to take him to the vet so you can get an appropriate diagnosis and treatment, particularly since you don't know if it is catching.
