so this guy i've been dating since july left for the police academy. first of all let me say that he's 19 and i'm 21 but he's mentally mature and has been on his own for a couple of years since his motorcrossing carrer really took off.

anyway, he decided to go to the police academy but b4 he left he totally caught me off guard one morning at 1 am calling me and asking me how'd i feel about being his wife. i was a little hesitant but i do think he's perfect and so i said.. i could def see a future.
fast forwarding.. the day before he leaves for bootcamp his buddies take him out and i dont hear from him.

six weeks later.. i get a phone call (i didnt answer) he left a message saying.."hey, so im almost out of bootcamp and i wanted to see how u were doing..u prob have a b/f now but u know im the best... i'm going to be home for christmas for about two weeks so if you wanna see each other... OH and i was serious about the whole marriage thing but whatever, ill talk to u soon." what?

No he is not serious. He is young and immature in spite of your counter claim. But he is just a normal 19 year old boy. Going off to boot camp is a major change and he is looking for stability and something to grab on to, but don't take the marriage thing seriously Anyone who calls at 1 am to talk about marriage is either drunk, desperate, depressed or unstable.
If he was serious then he would take you to a nice dinner and have an adult conversation.. and then if he was still serious at some point he would buy a ring and get down on one knee and do it the right way.. not mention it on a phone message.

Yeah tell him you guys can hang out or something but I wouldn't jump right back in there with him. I went through this with my ex and he only called or came around when he needed company and only when it was convenient to him. If you really like him and want to see what the hell is going on with him, hang out with him a bit and then give him a chance. Make him wait and wonder cause if he is serious he will K girl!! If he don't then you know what you need to do!!! Hope this helps!!

Sounds like what my mother would call: Come here go away syndrome. He doesn't know what he wants, you don't either, you need to talk and spend a serious amount of time together before you make that kind of decision. but if I didn't hear from him for 6 weeks, (unless he was not allowed to make calls). I would be wondering just like you are how serious he was. You need to take some serious time before you decide anything.

Steady dating for a few more years sounds better than a wedding right now! He's probably a good bloke, but I don't think anyone who proposes after a few months of dating is mature enough to see it through!

I'd put the marriage thing on hold with this one for at least 10 years - seems like he wants you to be serious about him, but may not want to be serious himself.

Tell him you need more time for such a big decision ...lets wait and see what happens....if it is to be it will happen......don't rush into this without careful consideration......if you like alot maybe an engagement would not be a bad idea......

Sounds like he's trying to get laid for Christmas... Sounds harsh I know, but men are evil like that. If you want to get laid, it might be a good opportunity for you. If not, ignore it and move on.
