Why does my skin hurt like it's chapped when I moisturize my face for the first time in a long time?

It's the same principle as when you put water on some hot coals. it's dry .

Cause it's so dry. this is true. try to moisturizer daily * even morning & evening. & petrouem products are not good. once you use a vasoline based product, you'll have to use it. it has a tendency to dry the skin, being habit forming.

try to stay with the glycerin based, or coco-butter, or lanolin, aloe, based even bees-wax. there is a lot of other products out there w/out vasoline. it may be good in the tank of your car but not on your face......

b/c u let your skin get too dry that when u moisturize it, it actulaly irritates the skin...so best to use it in the am and pm to avoid that.....also, ur facial cleanser could be too harsh and drying, maybe try a different cleanser more gentle..
