Because our eyes have been opened to see the Truth and our hearts have been melted by His love for us, that's why!

Well there are still some unanswered questions and people want something to hold on to when they feel powerless. In a world like ours, who can blame them?

Also, I think you've failed to take into consideration that belief in science has not usurped belief in God. It has become, in a sense, God. Ancient peoples believed that divinity was in the mechanics of nature, not in a fairy tale kingdom on a throne with a beard and unicorns. So to embrace the ancient conception of God is not to deny science or believe in mythical deities of ages past, it is to investigate the laws of nature and admire the advances made thereby.

I believe in the divine, but I see it in nature. My cosmology is far removed from the cosmology of the middle ages. My God is scientific. The mythical divine takes over for science when science fails to explain.

I hope this helps.

That is exactly it! why do people all over the world still believe in God if indeed evolution has anything to do with the outcome of our constitution? One would expect something so wrong as believing in something that does not exist and basing one's beliefs and behaviors based on that misconceived belief would have gone extinct long time ago? Evidently it is quite prevalent. Doesn't this tell us something?

Just about everyone believes in something, so why NOT God? God was around long before the middle ages, btw.
Tell me what in history of the middle ages would have had you stop believing there is a God?

One way to find out there is a God is to demand HE prove Himself to you. Be careful what you ask for.

The real question is, Why don't people believe in God still?! After all these years of the revelation of His Majestic Creation!

It is because of the fact that God exists. It is a fact that God or Energy which created earth, sun, moon and the glaxies does exist. Nothing can come in the world without some power which is a supernatural power is God. You will believe when death will come to you and then you will say that God exists.

i believe in god because i know that he exists and can answer prayers etc. i know this because he has answered mine several times including when my aunt got a brain tumor we all thought the worst everyone was praying for her and one day she went for a scan and the tumor had completely disappeared and they had not given her chemotherapy or anything

you don't need to be in the middle ages to believe in god. In the middle ages people believed that the world was flat and it wasn't they also practised astromony etc which is false

Childhood influence, Education, and Mainstream Media/society (i like to call it post graduation education)

Parents and freinds have a big impact on what you belive when you are older. If you go to christian school from Pre K to BA then guess what, you are probably christian.

Education as well. our education sucks compared to europe.

Media and society. Look at BBC and contrast it with CNN FOX and local news. look at their programming (with folks like derren brown and a real debate on religion, unlike our pathetic one on nightline). We want easy to comprehend stuff after 9-5 work day, not something we have to think about. even our discovery channel is limited to cash cab and dirty jobs. the only good thing we have is CSPAN and Public Broadcasting

The mental virus that spreads the idea is still flourishing. But yes, the average person is indeed still living in the middle ages intellectually, ..but with the material benefits of the modern age.

Like you, I tend to think in the mindset of future generations. The fact that a belief in an imaginary dictator is considered a positive character trait among candidates for the most important governmental position in the world is baffling. One day, this will be considered a big strike against our era. Count on it.
