Couple of days after my wife became the manager at an apartment complex a Mexican tenant came to her. What he wanted was for her to report him as an illegal immigrant. Seems he couldn't afford the trip back home but knew that we'd do that for him at no cost.

Why didn't he just turn himself in?

what a shocker, an illegal looking for a "free ride", I'm surprised he didn't ask for a free lunch too.

Guess it depends where you are. I"m hearing of Cops not arresting illegals or authorities refusing to deport them. Not to mention the safe haven cities that exist all over the country.
Deportation is kind of a bad way to go though unless he plans on staying there. It will go on his record and if immigration reform ever does happen, I imagine one of the segments that will say in it is the clause of not considering those with "deportation" on their records.

that could come at a high price for him if he's been deported before he can be barred from the U.S. for up to 20 years.
