I have been dieting since last January. I began at 275 and I am now 160. The Doctor wants me to get down to 130. I am female, age 50 and am 5'9". I seem to be losing weight in spirts--like I won't lose any for a couple of weeks and then I'll drop like 5 pounds in a few days. The problem I am dealing with now is the sudden lose of energy in the late afternoons. I just get completely wore out and it hits all of a sudden. I eat plenty of protiens during the day and the diet is a Doctor perscribed one. My blood is being monitored by my Doc. He says my iron and vitamin levels are fine. What could be doing this?

LOL, Ms Crone. It's called being 50! As we get into our 50's we find that a quick power nap of about 10 to 15 minutes can really refresh us and enable us to go for the rest of the day. Even at work, if you can, sneak off to the rest room and grab 10 minutes of shuteye on the throne. You'll go back to the job all ready to tackle the rest of the day and have enough energy to do what needs to be done at home, when you get there, too. If that's simply NOT possible, then grab a few minutes nap the moment you get home from work and that should enliven your spirits for the rest of the day. For your afternoon break, eat something with a little bit of sugar or carbs in it, not too much, remember you ARE trying to lose weight and don't forget to compensate for this at mealtime. The objective is to get your Blood Sugars back up to normal AND get a recharge with the power nap.

Wow! I really envy you. How did you do this? I am 5'4" & 180 & have lost 40 since May. I seem to be stuck.

It could be the loss of carbs. I dont know what kind of diet you're on, tell me) & what you're consuming. but something's amisss. I take Spirulina to boost me & cut food cravings. It subs for protein & i think it helps me not feel so week.

I also have chronic fatigue, which you might just happen to have. But it would surely have showed up before now.

Good Luck & Great Job!!

i do no longer seem to have lots of a situation with ability at any time of the day. Occasionallly, i will take an afternoon nap, even though it is because of the fact i've got had my sleep trend interrupted. If I definitely have my way, i'm an early riser and could be in mattress by making use of middle of the night. it form of feels the older i'm getting, the fewer sleep i choose. although, while the sleep trend is interrupted, nap time will result day after immediately.

It's normal to feel a little tired in the afternoon. That's when blood sugar levels tend to drop down. Snack on some fruit in the early afternoon and that should help.

well... ask ur doctor about this.. to loose weight u can also do exercise..as per ur age .. u can still go for walking.. on tread mills.. this will keep u energetic.. so reduce sm diet and go for little bit of exercise.. hav plenty of water and fresh fruits.. dont go much for juices .. instead eat d fruits.. they r more healthy than the juice.. exercise is all way better option.. to loose ur weight.. to keep u young.. to keep u active and to keep strong.. trust me i hav seen a lady walkin on tread mill at age of 60 and she still looks charming.. so go to some gym or ask instructor to teach wht exercises u can do.. and start it slowly.. u will feel better.
