What is the process for traveling with your dog on a plane?

if you have a small dog that can fit in an approved carrier under your seat you are allowed to take them on the plane with you. if it is a large dog they take it under the plane. You have to have papers stating the dog is current on all shots and let the airline know ahead of time you are bringing an animal aboard. There is an extra fee for animals

You don't say how much your dog weighs....under 10 lbs. he is carry on, airlines generally charge anywhere from 50-100$ extra for the pet. Over 10 lbs he has to travel in the luggage compartment of the aircraft and prices depend on the dogs weight & size.

You have to have an airline approved carrier and when going thru TSA you must remove the pet from the carrier and send the carrier thru the x-ray. On board the plane, the carrier must be kept closed at all times. The hardest part is if it is a long flight, where to potty the puppy at because you have to leave the airport for doggy facilities. You may be required to show the rabies and other shot records to the TSA &/or airline. You must have a current statement of health from the vet dated no later than 10 days prior to the flight.

You must have a recent health certificate, current vaccine status, an airline approved kennel carrier. You also must know that they will be traveling in the cargo area not up with you. If your dog is small enough to fit in an airline approved carrier that meets carry-on standards, SOME airlines will allow the pet as your carry on. There are many that do not allow pets in-cabin.

Most airlines fly pets as cargo. You should check with each airline as they have standards of whether or not they will ship a dog in the cold or hot weather. Some dogs that are acclimated to the temperatures may still be allowed to fly in cargo, where most would not.

Your dog will probably need some kind of certificate of health from your vet... depending on where you are flying from/to you may need proof of vaccines/titers, etc.

You will have to buy an airline approved carrier for your dog, the airline does not supply them. Its important to crate train your dog ahead of time to make it as comfortable as possible. Your dog will be checked in, like other baggage.

Since flights can be long, expecially with layovers, you may want to limit food and water before and during the trip. If you do want to supply water, I reccommend using the bowl that comes with the crate, put water in it, and freeze it before the trip. You can do the same with canned food in another bowl. Your dog can lick at the ice as it melts.. this will also prevent spillage and wet bedding.

You will have to check with each individual airline on their pet policies.

When I flew with my dog, I had a paper stating that he is an emotional support dog. He got to ride on my lap.

1st you need a health certificate !! You also need a crate for your dog. The crate has to be big enough,for your dog to turn around,sit or stand in. Also put a blanket inside the crate,so your dog can be comfortable.Your dog will be in the cargo area of the plane,and it's cold in that area.

depend on how big the dog is if itsa toy breed you may be able to take it with you ina carryone carrier other wise you will have to rent or buy a carrier and check the dog in with the baggage when u put it in the crate which is what the airline may want check with the airline fistvets suggest gravol to relax the dog

If its small like a chihuahua you can take it on a plane I saw a couple traveling with thier 2 chihuahus. I said I wish I could have brought mine.

Check with the airline first to find out their policy for transporting animals. Some will not allow animals at certain times of the year while others don't allow them at all.

i dont know if it varies between airlines, but i know its seasonal. my family recently moved from california back to indiana, and they had to fly their animals back 3 months ahead of time, because it was going to be too hot when they were planning on moving back. im sure its the same for the winter, it being too cold.
