No looks like an infection, only on your top teeth. Just mouth wash (even though it will sting) and you might need some antibiotics from a doctor to make the infection go away.
No big deal from the looks of it.

Listen you have to know what is in you mouth to answer this question. Bacteria live in your mouth they create biofilms also know as plaque in addtion plaque is found above the gumline and below the gumline. If plaque is not brushed away within a few days it mineralizes and forms calculus or tartar. Tartar is like having a sliver under your gum which if you think about when you have a sliver in your skin the skin is red, inflammed and will bleed easily. Just like what symptoms I see in your gums and I know if I touched your gum right there it would bleed heavy. I think you have tartar under your gumline causing a mod to severe inflammation of your gums also know as gingivitis.
THIS WILL NOT HEAL BY ITS SELF
So what do you do? Go get your teeth cleaned I suspect it might have been awhile since your last visit but none less you need to get in there ASAP. If you let an infection such as ginigivits stay around in your gums too long it can lead to periodontitis which is the loss of bone and the other supporting structures around your tooth. Bone loss is not reversible I might add without surgery. A good cleaning will make a BIG differences. After you get your cleaning brush twice a day I love Sonicare if you can afford it, floss daily by wrapping the floss like a C around the tooth rub the tooth a few times up and down and move on to the next tooth, and lastly regular cleanings every 6 months.
Good Luck :-) Jennifer RDH

know that bleeding and swollen gums can be caused by a gum infection. these are actually the warning signs of a gum disease development. what will help you is consulting a dentist.
you must take oral health seriously for gum disease can affect general health if left untreated. it can cause heart disease and other ailments when severe. you should pay close attention to good oral hygiene to prevent gum disease from silently attacking and progressing.
why not make it a habit to properly and carefully brush and floss teeth to remove plaque and keep the mouth free from bad bacteria from proliferating. visit http://www.themouthdoctor.com for more tips on how to take good care of the gums.

go to the dentist and floss and brush your teeth twice a day. Also brushing your gums helps bring down inflamation but it could mean something else like a medical issue. Go to the dentist. Make sure you are flossing that area as well.

Yes, I'd be concerned. It's as important for our fine four legged friends to have healthy gums as it is for us. It can lead to inflammation in other parts of the body more so then it does for us. Their gums are different then ours and a normal human tooth brush should not be used for cleaning. They're gums are more sensitive then ours and OUR toothbrushes will damage them. I have a special soft rubber brush that goes over one finger that I use just to massage his gums. I'll use the toothbrush with chicken flavored dog toothpaste to brush his teeth. I do that three times a week and he loves it. He just seems to be quicker at licking the toothpaste off the brush then I am at brushing his teeth. I'm fast with it and he just has a blast.

It appears to be an infection. Possibly something got caught under the gum. Set an appointment to see your dentist and he will find out the cause.

It kinda looks like a tooth abscess. I had the same thing and i had to go to the dentist and have them pop it and clean it out. Mine was caused by a popcorn seed or a corn chip that got stuck. If it is a abscess,it is very dangerous because it is poison and it gets into the blood and eventually it can go to your brain and kill you. Good luck.

Of course, my dear. But before to see a dentist, perhaps you may wait a couple days. First you need flossing and brushing very gently and then rinse with water (with sodium) after you eat.

Something may have gotten under the gum and is causing it to be inflamed. If I were you, I would see a dentist to see what is causing it. . If there is something under it to cause the irritation, he will be able to get it out. Or give you an antibiotic if there is an infection.
