In some countries it is a legal question. Malaysia is one I know for sure identifies people by their religion, and it can be hard to change. In most countries it isn't a legal question.
Another charge that some people are hit with is apostasy (rejection of their religion), which I think is a crime in some majority Muslim countries and can mean a death sentence.
Be thankful for secularism...

No it's not a legal status change. Some churches will officially excommunicate you if you change to another faith; others will more likely just drop you from their membership records.
I don't know about religions other than Christian denominations, but I know it's not a legal thing, unless maybe you lived in a country that was some sort of tyrannical theocracy (run by a religion).

in case you reside in usa, then there is not any criminal registry or something. A church is nearly a club, and regardless of in case you went via an initiation ceremony, you may provide up. as properly, an 8 12 months previous isn't legally effective adequate to make a legally binding settlement. in case you reside in yet another u . s ., let us know, i'm able to locate out exceedingly unquestionably i'm specific. edit: there's a perfect act of defection that the Catholic Chuch recognizes, regardless of if that's no longer probably very well worth the attempt, in my opinion, by using fact the church isn't somewhat an expert for you, that's not significant what they think of.

Religion is not like changing your name. You can change religions as often as you change your underwear, and you don't have to inform anyone. The government only cares what religion people are on the census for statistical reasons.

Religion is a set of beliefs. So far there are no laws about believing in anything we want to. Also in the USA anyway the law says to not mix church and state.

You mus register your new religion by calling 1-800-GET-REAL.
They will, of course, require you to send a blood sample along with a clipping of your right big toe nail. Yes, you figured right, if you don't have a right big toe, then you cannot change religions.

It depends on where you live. Some nations require you to legally register your religion.

Leave religion alone. Read the Bible and search for salvation.
Religion is sending more people to hell than anything else.
Salvation is what you want, not religion

Depends on your religion. Many religions have an initiation rite that must be gone through. Others state that you must only declare yourself to be of that religion and practice it.
Look up the religion and you can find out more, or update us here, if you let me know the religion I might know something about it.

It depends on whether you live in a country where you have to declare your religion on government documents. If you do not, I would not worry about it.
