Well it would make that country feel a genuine freedom. Free from the strings of the U.S. government that commands them like puppeteers other than that as Livewire says it would make them love America. Why because non-American but are under American power is so sick and tired of the US constant intrusion on their every political moves. I mean we have the UN and it comprises the vast representatives from various nations. It’s not America’s job. For me the whole point of having American base military on Japan and other countries are just a cunning masquerade of political interference from the U.S. In our country we used to have US bases but they have gone long time ago and we didn’t have any fight with other countries nor did we have any plans of creating our own nuclear weapons. (Guess what? they’ve long been gone but they have a new name on our country. They say they stay here to teach our soldiers new techniques in combating terrorist and the like.)

No. I think one thing that we can rest assured of at this point is that whoever gets elected will be a vast improvement over Bush. Not only has Bush initiated bad policy which favors the wealthy, but has blocked any other policy that favors the working class. Once some of America's affluence becomes available to the people who actually have to or choose to spend it in the U.S. rather than invest it overseas or squirrel it away into their own private fortune, the economy will improve dramatically. If you will notice...when Bush actually DID consult the economists to come up with a "stimulus package", they directed money directly at the consumer. They themselves have predicted that a mere $500 per person in the hands of the consumers would "turn the economy around". The question then is, if this is such an obvious fact, why has Bushes policy focused on tax breaks for the wealthy? The middle class is what drives our economy, not the people hoarding gold bars.

What would happen if the united states government closed all its military bases worldwide ? I think this question is absolutely not plausible and would never happen. Whether you are an american or your from another country, whether you think favorably upon the united states and its policies or not, the world today needs the united states more then it realizes. If we were to close all of our military bases it would leave a huge vacuum to be filled by governments and organizations not as friendly as the united states. Take out our bases in the middle east, out of saudi arabia out of iraq Iran would run rampant, the civil war in iraq would only get worse, the government would disintegrate or become an authoritarian state, like the sadaam one we invaded iraq to liberate it from. The kurds would separate from the rest of the country. Iran would call the shots in the region, afghanistan would double the exports of drugs it is exporting now and once again become a terrorist haven, for another major attack. China and russia would assert their brutal regimes on the rest of the world. Japan would remilitarize itself, and reassert itself north korea would invade south korea india and pakistan would be at war with each other. Taiwan would no longer exist. Without us brokering the peace, Israel would be at war with iran and possibly the rest of the middle east. Like it or not, the world needs the united states we are the worlds police for better then worse, having russia or china call the shots.

We would save a lot of money by ceasing to be the worlds Policemen. It would be temporary.
Then we would have to save the world again, that would not be cheap; either in lives or money.
We may not like spending the money but will Americans or the world be safer under control of Russia, China, Islamofascists or various other tin pot dictators who slaughtered people by the tens of millions during the 20th Century.
We have to have our bases; it is a necessary evil.

Then America's ability to intervene all over the world would be severely diminished. Of course the Navy can always provide power projection, but nothing on the scale seen recently. Unless an ally was kind enough to let them use their air bases, no more large, far off invasions!
And of course, it'd probably save a tad bit more money, at the cost of ending current deployments and exercises overseas. But at least that'd keep more troops on your own soil for homeland defence and dissuasion.

Things would fall into dissorder for own country. The country that the bases might also, depending on how close they are to a civil war they are.
we might lose our title of the worlds super power, and china would get it. We would only be powerful because we have so many nuclear weapons. we have 3000+, china has 300+. But really, once your over 100 nuclear weapons it doesnt matter, there arnt that many major cities to bomb.

That's a great idea. Think of how much money we are losing
by being the world's policemen and what does it get us?
Hmmm, I think we know, but we don't want to admit it.
Okay, to answer the question, we would save a wad of money and we would not be hated around the world. Like I said, its a great idea.

Total Anarchy and a rise in tin pot dictators with a side dish of Muslim Fundamentalism. For a dessert a rise in drug trafficking and organized crime worldwide.
