you say, "School is a place for Education not Ignorance! We should support the lack of beleif in a God and/or Deity!"
but what has happened in the schools since they have begun to do this? isn't there a huge surge in school shootings and deaths! if you investigate when they began to ban God in schools and take prayer out of the schools with the increase of these shootings you will see it plain as day. if you want a godless society you will pay the price for being godless. so... will you investigate it or just lazily believe what you think is right without checking into it? if you really care you will...if you just love to talk without knowing you won't. it is no coincidence that the one happened and the other followed it. i guess people don't really realize just how much evil God protects our children from every single day. so should God be completely taken out of schools? well it just depends, if you want to cry out to him for help later when real evil is staring you in the face then, no. if you don't then take Him out, but to say that is selfish on your part. if the people who believe in God are ignorant, then why don't you see this obvious cause and effect because of your own ignorance?

If I'm a Believer, I should know that God is already everywhere, and so your question is moot. Also, I can provide for my children's religious education without any assistance from government. What if the government's concept of God is not the same as mine?

Who in government do we trust to decide what version of God is the correct one, the one that will be referred to in schools? Would that not be a catalyst for civil war?

There are very good reasons for saying that government can neither support nor prohibit religious beliefs.

Offically, yes.

Public schools have no business holding official prayers, funding organizations with a clear non-secular agenda or providing school time for preaching.

However, teaching about religion as a part of history and culture is a must for a complete understanding of these topics.

Unofficially, no. Children are allowed (and should be allowed) to pray on their own time, bring their bibles to read during lunch or study hall etc. However, if any student of any faith starts tormenting others over their differences, then that should be treated as any other school disruption.

I believe we should keep God out of our schools, just because of the people who care about God too much, or the ones that don't believe in him. Religion is a very touchy subject escpecially for teenagers and I think we should expand their knowledge on different kinds of religion, not exclude all but one. Along with this, I also believe we should take out the words "under God" in the pledgilegence, but I am used to religious people surrounding me, so I don't mind talk of God in school or with friends, but rather not be included in the conversation. People are entitled to their own opinions, but when they have fights about which opinions are technically correct, that is when it goes downhill.

Well, I go to a private Christian school.
It sucks.
But its hard for me to answer without sounding like a hypocrite. Because I think its good for kids to get to know God. But at the same time, its annoying for the teachers and pastors to be shoving it down your throat.
I think public highschools should have the oppritunites available for kids that have some intrest in religion.
So, it shouldnt be completely banned.

But I think its wrong to make people believe something. I'm sure you agree, but all in all, public schools should have the options.
Options not in force, but there for the students choice.
Because if you shove your religion down their throat, their going to have a bad expirience.

Meh, thats what I think.

If God is to be in our schools, let God reside in the hearts of those attending. There are plenty of youth groups, and church based programs without getting into our regular education.

Unless of course, as Pin says, make a class that studies all religions and comparative faiths...but i do not see this happening anytime soon.

Yes because there are so many ppl that don't even know who he is. Say you were to take 5 little kids between 5 and 8 and have 5 different pictures, one of God,one of Ronald Mc Donald, one of Wendy, one of Transformers, and one of My little Pony. Ask all of those kids individually who each one was. Maybe one of them would know who God was. And to me that is sad because there needs to be a better example for our next generation. And I think that ptuuing God back in our schools would be a better choice.

Oh hell yes.

Some of the Christians on here claim that America was made based on Christian principles. But do they really know how many of our forefathers were actually atheist, or agnostic?

Christianity is not my religion. I don't want to learn about "God" or "Jesus" or anything they supposedly did. I would prefer to continue learning about linear functions, osmosis, and how to say "Your mom" in French. ^_^

My school already holds a moment of silence in the morning for others to pray and my world geography teacher preaches in class. Isn't that enough of God for one day?

Even though I don't go to a non-Christian based school with a non-Christian based curriculum, I still pity my friends that don't have the opportunity to learn about God and religion in school. I go to a Christian private school. I must admit that public schools are much different from any others, I was hesitant about admitting that at first. I think that we shouldn't take God out of schools, because our country was founded and based on the principles of Christianity. Our fore-fathers were good godly fellows who intended for God to be with them throughout their time period as well as ours.

NO! We need to get God back into the schools. When God was acknowledge in our class rooms there was no need for lock downs or police patrols, you could send your child to school without the fear of them being gunned down by their class mates. Children were taught respect for human life and respect for God and country. Anyone here over the age of 45 look back at how we were raised and how the schools were back then, can you honestly say that things are better now since God has been removed from our schools. Just pick up the morning paper and look at the fine mess that has been created. Forgive us Lord Jesus, Please
