would you vote for a president that thinks that the illegal immigrants should just be automaticly deported even if they have commited a crime here? if they are criminals shouldnt they be punished as criminals, instead of getting to go back to their own country? do you have another solution to this? i know it takes more money to keep them in jail here before deporting them, but isnt it hypocritical to only enforce the laws that are the cheapest to enforce?

sorry for the confusion, most of you understood anyway but, i am talking about illegal immigrants that commit other crimes here(other than entering the country illegaly), just being deported instead of serving their time first. just to clarify.

your absolutely right. it is hypocritical! i dont really have a solution but i think it depends on the severity of the crime whether or not they prosecute them here. In other countries if we misbehaved we would be.... well, who knows what would happen to us!! You know what i mean?!

A criminal is defined by your perception of what a criminal is. Now, if a person took pens from work he would be a thief and thus a criminal - right? A person who is speeding above the limit is breaking the law and is a criminal - right?
Immigrants who cross illegally or come here by other illegal means in your eyes should be criminals because they are breaking a law you see as very very important. But in the long run is not feasible. The United States would be nothing but prisons if that were the fact. Enforcement of immigration policy is the way it is defined. You would need to read that policy and incarceration statutes for being here illegally. I have worked in the law field for 28 years and "policy" is that illegal persons are held at an INS detention center, finger printed, photographed and if at that point it is determined they do not have a previous record, were not caught with drugs, or were the smugglers themselves, they are released at the border. If there is a substantial amount of them, some may be held as material witnesses against the smuggler.
Day before yesterday, a young man was detained in school for having marijuana. He is a minor and was here illegally. The police called border patrol/INS and the young man, his sibling and his mother were taken into custody and driven to Nogales and released into Mexico. The father was detained and taken to the INS holding facility to be officially deported.
This family had been here 6 years. Both parents worked and paid taxes. Now, the father's "crime" was being here illegally, but working and supporting his family. The boy's "crime" was possession of marijuana. If it would have been a US citizen, the minor would have gone to Juvy. Who determines which laws are enforced. Was it easier to just deport the youth than take him to juvy, hold him for months, then have INS pick him up and deport him? Which means that the parents might not have been deported. Officers make those decisions everyday.
A person commits a crime and is illegal, the police do not go looking for the illegal family members. They deal with only the person arrested. This particular incident with the young man created such a havoc that half the school population protested at the police department and federal court.
Cury, I don't know which part of the country you live in, but if you have every seen our prison system at work in the flesh, you will realize that there are persons in there that do not deserve to be in there. That the means of their punishment should be less severe and then there are those where it is not severe enough.
A person who is not a "criminal" per se, and has come here to better his or her economic situation because of poverty does not deserve to be incarcerated. They come here and work at menial jobs and still live by our standards in the poverty level. Many of these persons, send money home to feed others. Women who come have suffered abuse, rape, hunger by those they have paid to help them. Those "paid" are the ones that deserve to be in prison. Because in my eyes those that profit with trafficing human beings ARE criminals.
I don't know what the solution is - except that instead of the US giving those countries governments money, there should be a system like the peace corps, vista or something else, where in the inhabitants of the country are benefiting to get better jobs, education and raise the quality of life in their countries so that people want to stay.

We do not always have the money to do things 100% the way they could be done.

If they are illegal immigrants and commit a crime, heck yeah they should be deported without any jail time here.

If they are illegal immigrants and have commited no crime, then I have no clue what we should do with them. There are what.... 12 million illegals here by some estimates. We can not afford to ship them all back. But I say take away any benifits for illegals like any government pay outs of any type at all. All except for schools for children until they finish high school. Furthermore, if the kids are exceptional students, offer assistantance to help them and their immediate family become legal residents of the US. This gives them an incentive to do well in school and stay out of trouble.

Just an idea. Anyone else with suggestions?

I don't know what the answer is really--if we jail them here, we will have to pay for this service, and our jails are already overcrowded here, and the inmates in prisons are all in racist gangs which perpetuates the bigotry and problems and so the illegal immigrants would probably just network while they were there to figure out how not to get caught next time and help each other smuggle more over here.
If we deport them, they will just sneak back across as soon as our back is turned. The foreign governments want them to come here--it helps their ecnomony by draining ours instead.

Maybe we should just annex those countries so we can collect taxes there too and even it out a bit!

I speed, I get a ticket, I pay the price for breaking the law. It's insane to even expect our laws to be taken seriously if we are not going to enforce them!
As long as the law says deportation for ILLEGAL occupants is the solution, then they should certainly be deported.
However, it's like simplified economics- supply happens to meet the demand. If you really want to solve th problem, we need demand based laws. Stop the demand for them to be here and they will go away without us having to do anything more

Deportation is enough of a punishment for the majority of illegal aliens. We need to outsource prisons for the illegal aliens that commit serious crimes while they were in the United States. Before deporting the serious offenders, imprison them in another country so it's not so expensive. Everyone is punished and it doesn't cost taxpayers much - problem solved.

To answer your original question, yes, I would vote for a president that would deport illegal aliens even if the punishment doesn't fit the crime in every single case. You have to take the bad with the good.

If they are sent back to their own country then they would become their countries problem not ours, more than likely if they were to commit a crime here and stay here they would be taking up unnecessary space in the prison system that could be used for our own criminals. NO it is not hypocritical to only enforce laws that are the cheapest to enforce, it saves money and is done for a purpose.

Besides the illegal entry if they have committed a capital offense, jail for life no possible parole, then be put on a chain gang for Ag jobs or highway repair, etc., we'll get our money back in working for the country. All others deport right away and nothing that they didn't bring in stays behind to offset the taxes and welfare benefits they used. I'd like a better life, too but I'm not going to commit a crime to achieve it.

We should be better than that. People who are living illegally in this country it's a dangerous thing. But it's unfair to agree like you said: Illegal Immigrants are criminals. Most of them come here for a better life, and some of them are good people.

It's not only illegal immigrants who are doing bad thing and criminal thing in America, there's some legal immigrants and Americans as well.
The better way do deal with criminal is to put them in jail, if they are illegal send them in their own country!

I believe that in minor offenses they should just deport them & confiscate any property including vehicals & be used to support the fight against illegal immigration they came without anything let them leave without anything. But those that commit serious offenses should be tried & made to pay for the crime that they have committed & stripped of any possesions to be used to pay for their incarseration & defence. And than deport them without a chance of ever comming back to America.
