Hi the distance from your listening position to the front main left and right stereo loudspeakers will depend on how long and wide your room is.This will in part depend on the manufacturers recommendation for speaker position. Most speakers are designed to be free standing requiring an open space between the loudspeaker cabinet and the walls and floor of the listening room. When you are in your listening position the speakers high frequency drivers should be at ear level for optimum dispersion. Also the speaker enclosures should be angled towards the center of your listening position for the best sound imaging.

sorround speakers? Are you using 5.1 ch speakers? Well the height must be in the ear level. 2 meters far is optimal.

front speakers positioned 3 metres away from where you sit and ear level height would sound superb.

At least three inches up, so the sound doesn't sink into the floor
