ok talent isnt part of photography until you have the knowledge to express it,

i lack artistic talent, but are a skilled operator

even artistic abillity has to be nutured, the shot "light", you like it because its totally different from all the other shots that you have at flickr, however its to centered for my liking.

lillypads are a favourite subject for me and you have done quite well there

shooting a camera and pressing a button is not talent, anyone with more that 4 fingers can do it, talent involves 2 things in photography

1. ART

you need to learn composition and light before your talent will shine

2. SCIENCE

you need to learn control of a camera, the fstop to use to select depth, the shutter speed for the occasion/shot

have you got talent i would say your young and need to bloom a bit more, study art, the masters in painting - any famous european artist from 1600-1800, the modern guys like savador dali etc

study magazine images, look at the lighting used, study art in all its forms - mostly the recording of light

study how to use a camera - technique

combine art, science together then your talent will shine, we all have it, some more than others,

i am weak at the art side, hence i get others to finish my stuff in a computer, the science is different, im a master of exposure on tranparencies - well i think so anyway,

check out my snapshots if you want to study some low level art

keep practicing and learning thats what i try to do, talent must be combined with skill in this field like any other

You have several that show artistic leanings, and a lot of out of focus snapshots. To make your overall work more appealing, you might think about deleting the ones that are out of focus, several of the pet pics and the cute little girl head shot.

Then start reading books on beginning photography and apply the knowledge to your own images. Take a class if you have one available at school.. Look at professional images in magazines and websites and think about why you like them. Pay attention to lighting and composition in the photos you see and try to use good light when you are making pictures.

I have reported NR. Antoni has some good advice for you, presented in a factual way without being rude. NR's reply was not called for. No, you are not a "perfect" photographer, and really not very good yet, although you show the beginnings of making a photographer, but with practice and knowledge you can be great some day. In truth, you will not learn much if all you hear is how great your pictures are, particularly when they consist of mostly mediocre and out of focus snapshots . Just keep shooting and learning and you will do fine. Best wishes to you.

Everyone has had great posts but what I noticed off the bat was that you didn't have a focal point. What are you trying to capture? You had a picture of some pretty flowers. What was it specifically that you liked about them so much? Texture? Get in there! Lay on the ground! Capture the beautiful color.

That was an example of course. The previous posts told you to practice. I agree, take lots and lots of pictures. Some will turn out and some won't. Here is idea of how to get a hold of your camera eye. Each time you go out, try capturing objects, people, etc from a new perspective. One time when u go out to shoot try capturing interesting light patterns, or a repetitive series. Try shooting dozens and dozens of pictures of the same thing in a specific theme; up close, far away, underneath, above, and from every angle you can think of. Practice and listen to what the others in this post told you. :)
