I had a friend released from prison who still had money left in his inmate account. he wanted me to research how he would be able to get this money refunded. Does anyone know how to do this or a link online for it?

He was given a request form to send in once he was settled into the halfway house so they could send him a check for his remaining funds but its been over six months and he lost it.

He has to call the place that had him and ask them to return it to him.

Why doesn't the former inmate call the prison and ask for the custodial of prisoner accounts what balance he has remaining.? If you call, ask who you have to speak with. It would seem your friend has to inquire since it is his account.

HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE MONEY BACK WHEN OR UPON RELEASE FROM PRISON.

IF HE WAS RELEASED ON A WEEKEND, THEN HE WOULD HAVE IT SENT TO A FORWARDING ADDRESS.

IF HE STILL HAS NOT GOTTEN THE MONEY HE CAN CALL THE WARDEN AND ASK ABOUT HOW IT CAN BE SENT TO HIM.

A LOT OF INMATES SAY THIS AND HAVE LEFT ALL THEIR MONEY TO SOMEONE ELSE THEY WERE FRIENDS WITH THAT WAS LEFT BEHIND.

The prisoner gets the money when he is released or he can have it transferred to another account.

if they did not give it to him when he left then i think they use it for restitution. But have him call the prison he was in and they would be able to tell you or him.
