Iv tried using ice, and stretching it out. Iv taken so much pain relievers the bottle is almost empty. The pain goes away for a short period of time, and then comes back. My boyfriend has also given me a massage but that still hasn't helped and he does a good job every other time.

heat or ice but try some ointment with capsicum. thats the hot stuff from hot peppers. That is fastest way to kill pain in your muscles The walmart has zostrix do not get it on your hands it will not come off totaly and if you touch a tender part or your eyes you'll wish somebody would shoot you. I use a plastic bag on 1 hand and peel it off on a clean spot. the ointment gets into the nerves in your skin and you quit hurting. 1 application lasts all day, no smell and it warms up when you perspire. that's the fastest way to get relief. Works on any part but a few that you shouldn't mess with anyway..

You need to go see a physician if it is so severe.
Then, go to a massage session.
Nowadays, massage machine technology is not as good as human massager yet. I had a massage session and it is just 30 minutes. The session does help my fatigue on my shoulder. My school insurance cover 80% of my massage session fee. I only have to pay 4 dollars for a 30-minute session.
Massage have something called "trigger points", if you press on those trigger points properly, it will retrain the muscles. This will erase some pain and make your tense muscle feel relax.
Do not stress you back and arms too much. You need to take care of yourself. You situation needs to be fix.
Have a good posture in daily activity is important.
I don't those pain relieve notion/formula that are over the counter will help in this case.
You need to go see a physician, it makes you feel bad. It is your productivity.
Take care.

Ice them to reduce the inflamation and control some of the pain better. Use ice packs well wrapped in towels and only apply the ice for 20 minutes, then remove it for 20 (and refreeze it) then put it on again, etc. Do not ice for longer than 20 minutes each time - you can get ice burn. You should have substantial relief by the end of the second session.

Get moving the muscles again. Warm them up with exercise and warm baths.
