Me personally,,I think some men are afraid to go. They feel uncomfortable... my husband was afraid they would call on him to pray out loud......his brother fell right into praying,,didn't seem uncomfortable at all..I think it depends on the man.
Once they start going and meet men at church they like,,,,then it is okay...most Pentacostal churches have more men than other churches seem to have... ....funny,,,,you would think this would be the church they would be the most afraid of but they're not. My husband will go up and have them pray for him and annoint him with oil,,,but he won't volunteer to go up and pray for others...he does pray in his seat but just not up front....
This was something I wondered about, when we would visit other churches and see only women and children for the most part...i will be curious to see what others have to say...starring this qustion... : )

It's not just true in Christianity and churches, but in many faiths. In Judaism, we are taught that women are inherently more spiritual (that doesn't mean "better," btw) because we are the givers of life. It's one reason that Jewish men are required to do quite a lot more in the way of prayers and religious attendance than women are. It's deeper than that, of course, but it's clearly something that has been noticed down the years.
Nice question - a star for you :-)

I wish there were more men that would step up and do what God has called them to do. Women have been running things for too long and need to allow the men to take their place within the church. I think some women are way too controlling and won't allow the man to lead. We need to encourage the men within the church to start reaching out to the other men in the community.

Generally more sisters than there are brothers. Even looking at a type of the church with Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Ususally its two sisters to one brother ratio. I just thank the Lord for raising up so many Marys and Marthas to serve and have a heart and ear to hear the Lords' speaking. And for the Lazarus's who have been raised from the dead as a testimony to God's greatness.
These are just types but they bear a real practical picture of the composition of the church.
Interesting observation

I think it has to do with how most men are raised. They are taught to not rely on anyone else but themselves and that they have to take care of the family and so on and so forth. Also, God can bring forth some pretty strong emotions and that is another stigma imposed on men. A woman is not as scared to let those feelings out.

Well, church is a pretty touchy-feely environment (generally speaking). I guess that could put some men off.
Also, women like to get involved in group activities more so than men. That has something to do with it, too.

Women are socialized to tailor their behavior to social norms and expectations more than men. I think that organized religion is largely driven by the social acceptance that its members offer each other. Thus, women usually see more incentive in attending church. And it's also football season, which would keep men in front of TVs on Sunday.

I do think there is more interest in church for females. I do not know why this is so. I love a good sermon. My husband goes with me but he gets drowsy in church! This is one question I intend to ask the Lord one day! Good observation!

I don't think that women are more spiritual they are just more vulnerable & gullable, most women will fall for any heartbreaking story told by the no good lying Pastors. [disclaimernot :::: not being sexist or prejudice]
