I will be starting school in the next semester to become a funeral director. I would like to try and get a job with the medical examiner as an assistant or as a diener in a hospital morgue. I am currently working in a cemetery office. There are no positions open in the funeral home at this point. I'm looking for more experience than what I'm doing now-which is office work.

Wow! You must have a strong stomach and a strong nose! Not everyone can do that job.
Try calling the coroner's office and asking about it. I know someone who job-shadowed the medical examiner over the summer and was hooked.

You can start by volunteering at your local cities coroners office, they will be glad to have you help them open up the cadavers and discuss cause of death.

Congrats! - It will lead to experience and a career that you describe.
