My boyfriend and I want to get matching tattoos. NOW WAIT !!! Before you answer, let me say this: we were best friends for almost 2 years before we started going out a few months ago. and NO we are not getting each others names! we wanted to each get a small symbol like a music note or something. and by the way i already have 3 tats which are all easily covered and he doesnt have any yet.

He was going to get his on his wrist or neck and i was going to put mine on my neck or foot.

Obviously you know what everyone is thinking already, since you said "wait a minute", so let me say that it is an okay idea, but make sure it is something that also has personal meaning to you, not to just your relationsip. Life has many turns and tats are very permanent, or expensive to remove. Good luck and have some fun with it.

I think it's a good idea, as long as it's going to mean something important to you, other than you're boyfriend.
I, personally, have 'DIRT' tattooed across the knuckles of my left hand, because it was my ex-girlfriend and mine's word (weird special word I know, but we were never quite normal). I actually got the tattoo after we broke up, even though the split was messy. We're friends now, after 9 months of keeping the hell away from each other. The tattoo is special to me, even if she no longer is, because it signifies a happy time in my life, not just a loved one. The only thing I regret is that it's a DIY job and rather messy.
Keep in mind that we too, were friends for many years before we got together, and that often has little effect on breakups and such.
I'd suggest the neck for your tattoo. Good luck.

Go for it...as long as it's not names...if you ever break up...or hate eachother, only you will ever know someone else has the same tat, and the meaning behind it.

He may want to stay away from the neck for the first tat. Not only is that a painful place...it's also not easily covered and he may regret it later.

As long as there are no names...its a fine idea :) When we turned 18, my best friend (for the past 13 years) and I got matching tattoos. We're no longer friends...something that I never saw coming, but I certainly don't regret my tattoo. As long as the tattoo has PERSONAL meaning, not just a symbol of your relationship, its fine. Good luck!

My suggestion is the symbol for infinity - looks sort of like a side-ways number 8. The symbol is small, meaningful and not necessarily easily recognizable as a 'omigosh, that's so super cute!' sort of tattoo.

I love matching symbol tattoos. My fiance and I each have matching bats on our wrists. Both of us love bats, and both of us were ready to commit to tattoos low on our arms.

As long as the two of you can agree on a symbol that will have meaning even if you split up then go for it!

Tats on the foot are cool. As long as it is something that you like and it isn't a name then go for it!

I would say go for it as long as it meant something to you, not just signifying your friendship but something in life. Just remember that, that tattoo will be a constant reminder of him, if its about your relationship with him. But who knows, maybe you'll end up marrying the guy...

Sounds cute, as long as it's something generic you'd enjoy with or without him, especially as you already have some. How will he feel if you don't stay together & he has this reminder of you. Be sure, rather than sorry.

if you really want to get a tatoo with your boyfriend, try to get something that compliments the other one. Don't get the exact same thing get two different looking butterfiles for emaple. Also, get something that can have an alternate meaning so if you and your prince charming break-up, the tatoo can mean something else to you besides just him.
