Hes eating about a cup 2-3 times a day, but he acts like he's starving? Should I increase, decrease, or maintain the same amount?

Puppies need the same amount of nutrition as an adult dog - the only difference is they need it over several feeds a day rather than one.

When raw feeding (meat, edible bone and offal) the general guide is to feed about 2-3% of expected adult body weight per day. Feeding this way (without carbohydrates) will also not encourage the excessive growth which can cause problems with large breed pups. A raw feed pup will maintain steady growth and may reach their full adult size a bit later than their artificial fed counterparts.

Another advantage to feeding a pup this way is that they have to work for their dinner rather than just scarfing down kibble. They have the opportunity to feel satisfied after the meal as it takes longer to eat.

Puppies need lots of nutrition, esp large dog types. I free feed mine, just put food in the bowl when it is empty, but then I have little dogs. A cup 2-3 times a day doesn't sound like enough to me. I would feed him 2 to 3 cups twice a day or free feed until he gets older.

I found a great Dane puppy and took it to the vet and he said that after I get him to a normal body weight for his age, to put however much food in front of him and let him eat for 10 minutes and whatever he hasn't eaten after that, put it back in the bag. That is what I started doing 3 times/day and he doesn't act like it is his last meal anymore! Good Luck
