Sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet and do what your parents ask -- at least in this case it is for your own good.
"Honor thy mother and thy father that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12

I'm so sorry that thinking about going to church is stressing you out--I look forward to going to church because it relieves my stress. I know that the people there are kind and loving, and that they will be glad to see me. I don't know what your experience has been that you don't feel that way. You don't have to talk to people if you are shy--they may come and speak to you and welcome you but you can just smile and shake your hand--there is nothing special that you need to say. Pray about it and see what you feel you should do--it sounds like something your Mom needs to do and she would appreciate you going with her for support. It's always easier to go somewhere new or different if you have someone you know to sit by and you aren't by yourself.
I'll be praying for you that you make the right decision and that it works out well for you.

If you are not against going to Church in the first place, suggest to your mother that you could find a church that might suit your taste, and style a little better. I did the same thing when i was younger and found a great church that my brother and i attended without my mom.

i was raised catholic. i went to church every sunday. then i got married and had a family. over time, i read the bible and started researching about worship. My husband and I have come the realization that Saturday is the true day of worship or (friday sundown to saturday sundown). If you read up on the mark of the beast, worshipping on sunday goes against God's commandment of Keeping the sabbath holy and remembering what God has created. If you go to church on sunday you are disobeying God because he commanded to be worshipped on SATURDAY, not Sunday. Church in Jesus' time was to talk about God and how you should obey God's law and prepare yourself for the new life in His kingdom.
The Holy Spirit is prompting you to seek the truth on your own. If you read the bible and texts that the church has kept secret (thelostbooks.com) you'll find that from the start of Adam and Eve, They were actually more intelligent and had constant interaction with God and His angels.
Everything I learned as a child was a half-truth= LIE. Don't go to church because your mom said so. Stay away from TRADITIONS. Jesus didn't follow the traditions the Jews followed. He wants us to seek God on a one to one basis.

Everyone at the Church will accept you with open arms. Don't be scared or afraid. Go to the Church with an open mind. You may be surprised to come out of the experience with many new, wonderful friends.

Why? Do you think people will be thinking that you haven't attended church in a long time? Don't worry. Just go and enjoy yourself. No one will judge you.

I didn't go to church for a while, about a year but then I went back and I felt great. I went to Confession and everything and now I attend church every Sunday.
You should go. It makes you feel good about yourself

If the church's beliefs go along with yours, you should go. If you like another church more than that, go to that one. Find one where the Holy Spirit really burns inside of you.

If the only reason you don't want to go back is that your shy then consider it an exercise or stress test. Go and perhaps pray for the strength to get over your shyness.

Go ahead and go once or twice and see for yourself if there is something there for you or not. If you really aren't satisfied with the church at least you can tell your mom that you tried it and didn't like it.

I'm all for not going to church, but maybe it will help you out of your shyness by some meeting new people.
