Hi Aggie,

A lot depends on what you need PowerPoint for. If you just need to play presentations and you are using Microsoft Windows then the free PowerPoint viewer will take care of your needs nicely.

If you want to be able to do everything with PowerPoint then you can download free trial versions from Microsoft, but once the trial period ends you'll have to purchase the product.

An in-between option is to download and install free software called OpenOffice (open source from Sun Microsystems). It has many of the same features, can open and work with some PowerPoint files, but has a different programming language and can't make or use popular PowerPoint add-ins (sometimes required for schools, business, etc).

PowerPoint is a proprietary software by Microsoft. You can NOT just download it. You MUST buy it.

You CAN get an Open Source equivalent for FREE here:

http://download.openoffice.org/

THAT you can actually USE to make Presentations with! ;) The answer that is a link to M$ is for a VIEWER only. :|

For editing purposes you can go to microsoftoffice.com and download the office 07 beta for 60 days. When the trial expires uninstall it from the program files and then re-download it again if you don't want to buy the office program. Otherwise just go to wal-mart and buy the student edition for like 60 bucks.
