Wife and I separated. I was counting on half of tax return. She signed my name to tax forms without my knowing. I have been paying maximum child support, prparing to give up 1/2 of retirement and 401 k. Can she be in trouble for forging my name

You provided her with the income information. Did you get part of the refund? If she had it deposited into a joint account, I don't see that there is anything you can do.

What do you want to accomplish by reporting to the IRS that your signature was forged? The opportunity to file a separate return, and be fined for failure to file a return at all?

Best you can do is put any refund that she took from you into the property settlement.

Your ex commited a crime by forging your name. However, she will likely not be caught unless somebody informs the IRS or other authorities. That being said, you can likely rectify any errors or desired changes on your joint tax return by informing the IRS that your wife forged your name and you want to change the return of file separately; however, if this was for your 2006 tax return you will likely suffer penalties either way for filing late. Another option would be to file an amended tax return.
