Why some people hide their feelings, even though they were hurt, they still act as if nothing had had happened? Or sometimes if they love somebody and get disappointed they smile as if nothing matters?

i do this also. and i know EXACTLY why i do it. i'm really emotional inside. (although not outwardly alot of the time)sometimes exposing feelings like that makes you feel naked and its easier not to go there if you are just trying to find a way to get over it. its like sometimes i'm hurt and i just wanna cry but i'm doing my best to hold it together until i get a handle on my emotions, and people keep asking me what's wrong and each and everytime they ask it brings that pain and those tears back to the surface again and its like i'm reliving the disappointment or hurt all over again. so i suck it up and smile to avoid the questions that make me feel all raw and open. Vulnerability is really hard for some people. if its a friend let them know you're there for them and give them space to deal in their own way. they'll come around eventually and open up when they're ready.

I'm that person, except I don't only hide my feelings, I become cold and isolate myself from people. It has nothing to do with maturity. Some people over 50 behave this way too. It really depends on the person. Some people struggle with abuse as a child and have trust issues. They don't let people in because they don't want to be hurt again. Some people struggle with rape, which makes a huge difference in your behavior towards other people. Most things are deeper than you can tell.

Some people, namely males, hide their feels and just grit their teeth. My husband in particular ignores when he gets upset with me but kind of waits until it builds up. Then when we get into a little fight we start to fight about stuff I wasn't even aware he was angry about.

Guys, girls, learn how to communicate! Holding your feelings in doesn't fix anything, in fact, they only come right back up later and at that point in time you don't deserve to be angry... No one can read your mind!

People hide their feelings because it creates this false imagine of if I believe it is not a big deal it will not effect me. This imagine is far from the truth. The longer you hold on to something, the worst effect it will have on you.

I do this. I don't know why I do, but I assume it's because I don't want to feel weak around other people and have them think that I'm over-emotional or something like that. It's a pretty hard thing to do.

You can't handle the truth.

DEon't get me started, or I'll be telling you just how much of a b**ch she is.

And you may end up sorry to thought people should be upfront with feelings.

Be nice, and mind your own....
