It's not the world that will not have an end. It's the glory and power of the Triune God that is meant here. The entire responsory says: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. So be it (Amen). This should make us feel humbler. Long after all the noise and questions of unbelievers shall have been reduced to cosmic dust, the almighty Eternal God still will be.

Erm, that's two different faith systems. The prayer is a Christian prayer, and the 2012 reflects the end of an Era based on the Mayan Calendar. So they are utterly unrelated.
A lot of people interpret the Mayan Calendar as meaning the world will end in 2012, but all it meant was the end of an era. They marked eras by which constellation "ruled the sky."

"World Without End" Sci-fi movie 1957. Starred Rod Taylor and Hugh Marlowe as astronauts who travelled into the future and crashed on Earth after a nuclear holocaust. Very cheesy.

Oh man, this is referring to heaven. This material world might end even before 2012. It is definately scheduled to end in a few billion years. Don't worry about it, most of us will see the end of this world when we die.

I've heard that. I'm not waiting for that new years celebration in 2012 when the world shall end, but I don't think we'll be here anywhere near global warmings toll.

it's an old Mayan and IChing prophecy. Many believe that neither is acurate because of time rifts. (our measure of days, years etc. are different than they were "back in the day") if my answer makes any sense...
