Yes, although your vet may charge more as it's a less pleasant experience for the vet when your dog's uterus is swollen and bleeding. If you wait, get her spayed immediately after she goes out of heat. And she should have already gotten her shots by now if she's old enough to be in heat so make sure you get that taken care of ASAP.

First of all--wait until her period is over--it's true it much more complicated when the dog is in heat. This can take about 10 days but she can still get pregnant after the bleeding is over. Be sure you don't let her out or in the yard where she could get pregnant. Call your local "Humane Society"--they will give you great information. They have good vets that do thousands of these operations. They are cheaper and some states give money or vouchers towards getting animals fixed.

Also, don't give shots at the same time. This is too much on the animal's immune system. Shots can be harmful. (some girl posted today how her dog was crying and shaking today after just having shots) There are many stories about this. Many Vets are becoming more aware and more HOLISTIC and understanding that vaccinations can be dangerous in animals and children. They usually only need rabies and parvo if they are going to be boarded anywhere or around other animals. There are some great Holistic VETS out there that can advise you. You can give Homeopathic pills to counteract necessary vaccinations. You can find them on the net. theavh.org and other places. Good book of help on Alternative Medicine--Diane Stein's--the Natural Remedy Book for Dog & Cat. Hers is easy to understand. Hope this helps.

well actually it depends on if you let her go outside because then she could be pregnant so that wouldn't be the smartest thing to do. I also know someone who got their dog spaded and she was in heat and after the surgery she died because she was bleeding so i would say no it wouldn't be good to do that.

Only dead dogs get spaded -into the ground. Living ones get spayed.

Wait until her estrus period (in heat) is over for a couple of weeks. The period lasts about three weeks.

Yes, most vets will do the surgery while a dog's in heat, but they sometimes charge more for it, since it can be a bit more complicated.

It's a great idea to have her spayed and to keep her current on her vaccinations! You are a great owner!

You need to check with your vet as some prefer to wait until after the heat cycle has finished. It can be done but there is the possibility of excess bleeding.

Make sure you keep your dog inside for now and get her speyed as soon as you can.

Yes, your dog can still get spayed, but many vets won't do it due to complications. Complications can include hemorrhaging-my vet absolutely refuses to spay a dog in heat.

yes you can but it much safer to wait till she is out of heat to get her spayed, alot less bleeding and swelling for the vet to deal with, and most vets will charge you more and some may not do it, just call your vet and ask what they want to do,
Good for you for getting your dog spayed

She can, but due to the internal swelling and increased blood flow internally during heat cycles, some vet will prefer to wait until the cycle is over. Only your vet can tell you what they prefer.

It's best to wait until after her she gets out of heat - less complications in surgery.

YOu should talk to your vet or a vet tech at your vet hospital.
