First off, I've heard everything there is to hear about the "unsafe" nature of this diet, thank you.

For those of you who have used Atkins, how fast did you lose weight? Namely, how much did you lose the first 2 weeks and how much did you lose per week after that?

I lost 30 pounds on Atkins in about two months and then gained back 10 when I went off of it. However, I have kept the 20 pounds off for over five years, even though I don't follow that diet anymore. Maintaining my weight is a daily struggle, and there is no way I could ever go back on Atkins. The thought of it makes me sick now. I keep my weight down by trying not to overeat and exercising and being active whenever I can. Whenever I gain a few pounds, I immediately cut out snacking and sugar and exercise until those few pounds are gone. Like I said, it's a never-ending battle, but it beats being fat.

7 in the first week and 1.5 to 3 per week after. By the way ALL of the real scientific data does not support the idea that a varied low carb diet is unhealthy. Since it was a diet to prevent heart disease first and weight loss second. It can reverse diabetes. The issue of ketosis just shows that people read very little about metabolism and can not tell the differences between a keto state of diabetic and the natural state related to carb restriction.
Men loose faster than woman. Be sure and eat your veggies for the fiber. Also take a top notch fiber morning and night. I found Sonnes#7 to be the best. Though lots of good kinds at the health food store. The ones at the grocery store are WAY over priced. This along with eating the low sugar berries atkins recommends will give you fantastic cell support. They also reduce inflammation.

Good weight loss is no more than 1-2 pounds per week,
with adding more fruit and veggies plus lots of fiber starting with oatmeal, plus walking from 1-2 miles per day. That way you keep it off, and you don't get the sagging skin associated with fast weight loss.

Also - remember the saying, don't bite the white -
no white bread, no white sugar, no white flour, no regular pancakes = and you may substitute buckwheat pancakes or whole wheat pancakes.

If you take vitamins, I suggest
A good multi-vitamin, C, ginger, psyllium-for colon cleansing, and sublingual - (means it dissolves under the tongue) vit-B12.

GOD bless us always.

I did sugar busters, a low fat healthy version of Atkins.

I lost 60 lbs, but it took about 8 months. The first 2 months, nothing much happened. I think my body was in shock. That was almost 8 years ago and I've pretty much kept it off.

It is easier to follow if you do the healthier version, in my opinion and much easier to stick to. I am not a fan of fatty foods to begin with.

Making a lifestyle change is pretty much mandatory if you want to keep the weight off.

My roommate used to do it. She grew facial hair and had really bad breath, and her periods stopped.
