Don't start off with name exchange like the other guys suggested. I guaruntee you they are friendless virgins.
It's an overly formal and awkward way to introduce yourself.
It's not normal for people to just walk up to someone and have the first thing out of their mouth being to tell them their name. When's the last time you ever saw that happen? Did you ever meet any of your friends that way? No.
Did you watch the pick up artist, where they take some really shy loser guys who are terrible with women, and try to reform them to learn how to talk to women? In the intro session, where they were supposed to show their stuff, they did the exact same thing. They just walked up a woman and just said hi my name is... which created an unnatural and awkward air that got shot down right away.
You don't want to appear weird when making a first impression. You have to say something relevant but interesting that grabs their attention. You can try a situational opener. Follow up with something interesting. Make something up that's somewhat related to the conversation but you can not get called out on. Or the easiest thing to do would just to be yourself and approach tons of women. Eventually you'll find one that likes you, it's a statistical certainty. You might undergo lots of rejection, but be strong and you'll find one. Good luck.

Ok. If you see them or something. Just introduce yourself. "Hi, my name is_____. Whats yours?" (Make sure you have a smile when you introduce yourself. Its make the biggest difference when you have a smile) Don't ask them when they're on the move. They may not be paying attention usually if their moving becasue they have other things on their mind. If its a new school then ask where a certain room is and they would usually point you in the right direction. Say thank you and move on without looking back. But dont forget about her though. Say hi when you see her again. Don;t linger too much because you come off as some creepy punk. Try to be normal and don't be too nervous. Goodluck..

If you see her carrying a certain text book, you can ask her else she's taking, or how she likes the courses, ask her what college/uni she goes to, then if that goes well, be like "Oh yeah, I'm _____ by the way"......as for the underground station usually I'm in no position to be talking to any guys, but if it's really rainy/sunny out, you could talk about the weather (not in the corny way...) Best of luck .

College girls aren't any different than any other girls. Ask questions, be interested, and most of all, be yourself! Start by asking her major, what classes she's taking, what she likes to do in her spare time. It's really great when you can find a common interest that the two of you share. That's the way a lot of relationships develop. Good luck!

Pick something relative to the current surroundings and run with it. ............Example She is walking among the campus with a psych 101 textbook and you say hey I`m taking that class too. Who`s your teacher? I have a report due in 2 weeks. Do you have a report as well....After the small talk then say lets grab a coffee sometime.

be yourself always, because if that isn't enough then no amount of opening lines will do you any justice in the end... just have to find the people and places where similar interests lie, and then you'll already have a foot in...
